Liopropoma sp. for a 75 comunity tank.

Kinda hard to find Liopropoma spp. in the market!!
I was searching for them on the net because I want one.

My system is a 75gal. and has a Scott's wrasse, a pair of Flame wrasses, a watchman goby and a purple firefish.

Any sugestions for what Liopropoma sp. to get?
Would I be able to have more than one species in my 75gal.?
I have plenty rocks and holes all over the tank.

I was thinking about L.swalesi or L. rubre. because they are not that expensive.

Please let me know...

You can add those two guys assuming you introduce them at the same time.

Personally I like the Liopropoma eukrines (Wrasse Bass) which is not expensive but they are hard to come by. Unfortunately I lost this one to jumping a few months back.

Rubre are just tough to find due to the Haiti situation. If your patient I'm sure they will be quite common again.

We don't see them in bigger tanks... Wonder if 75 would be too much in a sense.

I have a rubre in a 90 gallon. It was pretty reclusive because I had a candy hogfish that preferred the basslet remain in the back of the tank. Every time he came out it would escort him back to the corner. I finally caught the hog and the basslet was out and about almost immediately. One of the best fish I've ever had. Spends the day skipping from overhang to overhang and cave to cave and is pretty responsive to people looking at the tank. I don't think it will be lost in a 75 gallon unless it is being picked on.

i had a Liopropoma rubre in my 75 and he was the king of the tank! Awesome fish, L. swalesi is the cheapest of the 3. I just got my 30 gallon going and i want to add one of the above with my assessor and dracula goby. Haiti is killing me though, i don't know when i'll see a rubre i may have to settle for a swalesi

If you want to spend a little more, I would highly recommend the Liopropoma Mowbrayi. Their coloration is fantastic.

I had lots of trouble with my candy Hogfish (Peppermint hog). I took it out of the tank. Any new fish would be without a piece of the tail. Only the Sailfin Tang would be ok. After... the sailfin tang had to go because I think it learned with the hog. Terrible!

Well, I've got only peaceful fishes today (as I aready posted above).

I don't think the fishes I have will pick on it.

Haiti? What is that about?

I will get an Assessor also. My peppermint hog killed my Assessor.

We were talking about peppermint hog. You've got one. I guess it is more about the particular fish. The smalled the tank the more agressve, I guess.

That's why it's called hog. Like to eat everything. Beautiful fish. Just love it!

The only Liopropoma spp. I've seen in my LPS were L. swalesi and L. rubre.
Very nice! Did you buy them together as a pair?
I believe the best way to try would be introducing them at the same time, like in many other cases.

I only see them available twice a year and only one each time so when I saw two were available I just went for both. Not sure if they are a pair or not. The one on the left is about 1/2" longer and much thicker. While I'd actinic on last night both were swimming in the bottom corner without much chasing. Only time will tell whether they will form a pair or get along.

They're really different than the species I can see around here.

I asked the LFS to bring Liopropomas already. I guess I'll have to wait now.

It can take months to get unusual fishes here at the LFS.
All I can do is to wait and see.

I really like L. carmabi, but it's just too much money for me, even if they can get.

well, I will be happy with any of the Liopropoma sp. they can bring.

Just want to make sure they will do good with the fishes I have:

pair of Cirrhilabrus jordani
a Cirrhilabrus scottorum
a Nemateleotris decora and
a Cryptocentrus cinctus.

If anyone reading these posts knows that Liopropoma spp. can be agressive with the fishes I have please let me know.

The possible fishes to be added to the system will be:
Paracheilinus carpenteri
Assessor flavissimus
Pterapogon kauderni
Serranus tortugarum
