Litermeter 3 WXM Question

Just added the water exchange module to my Litermeter 3 to use for top off. Picked this up used and I have a question for anyone that uses one.

Does it take a while for the pressure to build up for the pump to turn off when the top off level is reached ?

The water level is pretty far up the water level tube and the pump is still coming on.

For some reason the water level sensor is not turning the pump off. Any ideas what it could be? I can't call Spectrapure until Monday morning.

Have you tried pushing the pressure sensor down into the water further to see if it shuts the pump down at any point? These pressure type sensors used by Spectrapure as well as others often have 1/4" - 1/2" of difference between on and off. In some cases, once they are in the water and cycle a few times, that delta decreases.

Yes, I have tried pushing the sensor way down into the water. Power to the module does not get interrupted for some reason.

Make sure there are no kinks in the tubing. If there isn't, I'd give Spectrapure a call tomorrow or post the subject in the Spectrapure sponsor forum here at Reef Central.

Have you tried removing the tubing from the pump and blowing through it to make sure there aren't any obstructions or salt creep? If the tubing is blocked, it won't work but that should be easy to spot if that was the case.

You could also try taking a length of tubing, connecting it to the pump and blowing into the tubing to simulate pressure. That should shut the pump off it the pump is working properly. Since it's used and likely out of warranty, you could open the pump up from the bottom and see if there is any kind of obstruction inside the pump or something damaged where the nipple for the pressure sensors line goes into the pump. Those pumps are pretty simple and fool proof so if something is amiss inside the pump it should be ovious and easy to fix. There are 4 screws on the bottom under the rubber feet. Remove those screws and pop the bottom cover off and inspect. That's what I would do next.

Didn't see anything blocking the tubing but I blew into it as you suggested and the pump turned off. Reconnected it and I believe it is working properly now. Must have been something in there I couldn't see. Appreciate the help, thank you !
