little bugs

In the last two months I've lost one bright green Bubble Coral (blue is fine) and one small torch. My acans seem small and have very little growth. Last acans I got were nice an inflated, then slowly got smaller. they have color, just smaller than they were when I got them.

last night i noticed some white fuz on one of the acans, so today I dipped two of them. The dip is Luigs dip, about 1 cup of tank water and a little over a drop of dip. both cups are white bottomed.

There were a couple little stars, some pods, and a bunch of tiny tiny tiny bugs. brown, maybe red, hard to tell. in the pic below I circled one of them.

should I be concerned about these? seems that there is a lot of life in teh tank I cant see, wondering if i should be pro-active and treat with interceptor or not

thanks!

circled one of them - I wouldn't even know they were bugs except that they move.

There was a recent thread about some type of flatworm bothering acans. I never pinpointed why my acans were receding. I changed so much in my tank i don't know what stopped the tissue recession.

too small for me to see what's circled :spin2:

I know the feeling. short of a microscope with a camera it's going to be hard to get a picture.

torn on whether this is an issue or not. Seems that there are likely many little critters in our tanks that don't do harm.

pascal ,if you need some interceptor just give me a call and i will hook you up .IMO it can't hurt to nuke the tank and be sure that they won't hurt your awesome corals . i would rather be safe than sorry but that's just me as i have had severe losses due to pesky little critters as you very well know .
let me know Dave

Feed your acan directly with a shot of rotifiers, you dont have to culture you can them frozen.

If nothing else it will take less energy (the coral needs to fight off or repair itself) to consume something small than it does to consume something larger.

I turned my colony around using approach alone, you'd have to see the pics of how bad it was despite being fed mysis with another colony that went completly unaffected placed right next to it.

definitely looks like flat worms to me. I just got educated on this a couple weeks ago. If you nuke them I would reccomend blowing off the rock first and then sucking up as many as you can before dosing. When they die they release a toxin. I lost a beautiful Tang because I didn't take precaution. Also Water change and fresh carbon.

you have excellent vision :) what makes you think these are flatworms? all I can say is that they are tiny!

only cause I just went through it. Can you see a tiny white dot in the body if u look real close? Also does your tank have an odor to it?

No odor that we have noticed. Can't say I saw a white spot. One of my coworkers just lent me a 90mm macro lens, I'll try to take a better picture soon. Not convinced the picture is going to show much. Need to find someone who has a microscope with a camera :)
