Little Rimless Radium Tank - 2 years of progress

It's still only coming in @ 6

buuut I haven't replaced my filters/membrane in 3 years, ooops. I was going to replace them anyways because they aren't working well anymore it takes almost a week to fill up a 45 gallons of water.

Yeah... That's probably a bad thing. Lol. Well, here's hoping that solves it.

Your tank is looking great, my friend!

lol, i thought it was bad that mine is taking 10 hours to fill 15 gallons

mine was never that great even more so when it's really cold the water pressure drops. I should get a booster pump but if I can fill my brute in a couple days it's almost always more then enough. With my new filters and membrane I ordered a psi gauge. I'm interested to see what I have

Did you end up putting the Regal or the rhomboids in your display tank? Those are 2 of my favorites, and would look great in there.

what replacement heaters did you end up going with? i also have an jager with moisture on the inside should i replace it?

Regal didn't make it. I had it eating oyster half shelf, and biking at mysis so I'm not sure what happened. The rhomboids are still doing great. I'm waiting for them to get bigger before I put them into the DT.

I have via aqua heaters but will proboly switch back to EBO. I donnu they said moisture is ok it sucks it in from the wire. I would just replace them if they look off. I still don't know if 100% that was the issue or not.

Sorry about the regal, MR. That sucks...

Crazy that it was eating for you and just dropped.

It was eating but I don't think it was eating enough. I have fish that were 1/2 the size and eating more. It sort of picked at stuff. I had it eating fresh shrimp, oysters, and picking at mysis I donnu. this is the second regal I've tried the first one I had eating pellets @ the wholesaler and had it for a while. Next time I'm going to make sure they eat before I take one home.

hey mammothreefer i just got done going through this whole thread and just have to say wow. I also wanted to get your advice on lighting for my sps tank. im currently using leds and am thinking of switching to metal halides. my tank is very similar to your 67gal. its a 75gal 36" 24" 20". i know on your 67 you where using 2 250 on luminarc minis my question to you would be if you think 1 250w on a lumianrc 3 would cover the tank enough for a sps tank? the luminarc 3 is a pretty large reflector and was thinkimg i could get away with just running 1 250. if you dont think that would be a good route to go what do you think about 2 175w on minis?

Sorry to hear about the Regal mate, that sucks. Nearly all my heaters have ended up with moisture in them for many months without issue over the years prior to me replacing them. I don't think that was the issue but who knows, it's frustrating not knowing what is causing a big issue. I had a mate once whos young daughter saw a small spider in his tank cabinet and sprayed it with fly spray - he didn't find out what crashed his entire tank for a few days after when he saw her doing it again......... that's how easy it is for the best laid plans we make to go wrong lol.
Really glad you're making progress with the rebuild mate. :)

Hey sorry for the delayed response. Tank has been in a bit of a weird state the past few months. I decided to not refill my biopellets, and I'm trying to go back to the basics to figure out what is going on. For the most part everything is growing. I had a couple pieces start to STN on me but seemed to have stopped it with glue, parameters seem stable (I need to test more), but I can't seem to get rid of the cyano. I did recently add a couple new fish, my DT has mellowed out a bit with the passing of my dottyback so I'm finally able to start adding some smaller less aggressive fish.

I've been steering clear of any new SPS. I really like what I have (even if they are mostly frags) and I don't want to risk introducing any pests. I'm hoping I can get the cyano/algae issue under control and maybe snap some pictures when the tank "Cleans up" a bit.

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing some updated pics. Are you using a calcium reactor or dosing pumps? How are you attacking your cyano/algae issue?

I'm still using Dosing pumps, my usage has dropped a fair bit since the issues when I swapped tanks.

As far as Cyano/Algae I've designating half of my frag as a fuge, and am running GFO. I tried upping it to no avail, my numbers went down but the algae/cyano is still present..
I'm going to try to increase my water change frequency back to every other week, however one of the key things I realized I missing is basting/blasting my tank. When I had AEFW I would do this weekly or every other week to keep them in check it also did a great job of helping move detritus back into the water column and down into my filter socks or just suspending it in the water column when I do my water changes. Last nite when I did a WC I decided to baste for the first time in quite some time. I couldn't believe how much detritus had built up in my rocks since the last time I had done it (the tank is bare bottom so I'm always siphoning out what's on the bottom of the tank). It could be that I don't have enough flow now, or the way my rocks are laid out as well.. I'm also considering adding another tunze or mp40
