Live rock anywhere?

Hey everyone, been awhile since I posted up. Things have been crazy as usual. Still have my 28g nano reef. Have an empty 44g Hex with a really nice silver marble wood stand. Its a pretty cool set-up so Im going to use is for a FOWLR. Get some cool critters I dont trust in my reef hopefully.

Long story short, anyone know of any nice LR around for a good price. Probably going to need anywhere from the 40-50lb range. Live aquaria has some nice rock but its going to cost 65 bucks to ship on top of the $100 price tag. Wondering if I could do better locally. I last got LR at Pets Warehouse but it was a little on the Pricey side.

Thanks,

Kevin

if its going to land you $4/lb from liveaquaria. a local store is not going to beat that. thats pretty good. You will of course have to cure it.

I am going to use the LR to start the cycle of the 44g. It comes to $3.71/lb shipped. Figured I wasnt going to beat that. Seems like its good premium fiji. Just crazy that shipping is going to cost almost $70 on top of the rock!

I have three md/lg pieces of live marco rock, approx 15-20lbs $20 (No coraline)
I've been keeping the rock alive in a brute pail for a couple months since i broke down my tank.
You're welcome to take the water also, about 25gls.
Bring buckets and lids. Pick up in wading river.

just throwing it out there but a hex isn't an ideal fowlr set up considering most fish enjoy a tank with length/ width. up and down does them no good. sort of limits what you can keep... happy that is:artist:

Located in Huntington. Pm me if you'd like to stop by and pick a few lbs.

Heres some inside information, the rock is shipped here by barge, not plane. Thats not fast. Right now its sitting in a warehouse in the same box in california. I doubt its seen water in weeks. The stuff on the rock is pretty durable and this is the best time of the year to ship.

Thanks for the info! I figured that, just didnt know if it was a ticking time bomb. Thanks for your input guys, I am exploring all options at this point and will let you know if I am interested.

As for the Hex, I am not looking to get long distance swimmers such as tangs or triggers. Im looking more towards the line of hawkfish, gobies, blennis, and maybe a different type of clown pair. Reason Im not making this a Reef is because of the Hex shape.
