Hey! I wanna know what the best live rock is. Sould I use aquacultured rock or fiji rock. Or anything else. I'd love some help. Thx:eek2:

I have Fiji, Marshall Island and Florida rock. The Florida rock by far had the best diversity of life, but is much heavier than other types.

a good mixture of the three is great for the reasons stated above

I have heard that the florida rock can carry more pests, but mine did not. Guess I was fortunate. No manits, or unwanted crabs. I received a few blue legged hermits. Nice corals, gorgonians, sponge and many other wanted organisms.

Last time I checked, Marshall Islands rock was unavailable. Not sure what was going on but no one has any as of a few weeks ago.

I usually look for shops around my region so I can get 1 day regular ground shipping, saves a bunch of money vs next day delivery. That includes Premium Aquactics, Pacific East Aquaculture, and SaltyCritter. I have no idea what retails would be with a day of Wa, but worth checking into IMO.

Do you think I could order some online? Or would that be a bad Idea. Normally I go 2 the local lfs (i.e. fish gallery and pets) and they have a pretty good selection. But lately they've had quite a bit of pests.

I don't know anything about your LFS, but many people order LR online all the time with great success. I purchased 18 lbs of Unavia rock from Salty Critter and 25 lbs or dry Fiji Rock from Marcorocks. I was very happy with both purchases. I'm abour ready to order another 50 lbs of the dry Fiji from Marco.
