Since I am new to this I am trying to figure out if my rotifer colony is alive or what is the white dust looking speaks. After the water settles they just float in the water colomn. They is no bad smell coming from the bucket yet. Also every night I still have to add mixed phyto to the bucket. Colony started on Sat 30 Aug.

Ok yes what i did was pull out a glass full to try and get a view of what i am looking for it is.actually in a 5 gallon bucket with air ect.

I never seen them before, I thought I looking at chewed up bread crumbs floating in water. Minus the slight slight movement in the water column

I too used a small glass and placed it behind the maginfing lamp and I could see them swimming around in the glass.

Try putting a flashlight against one side of the glass and after a minute or two your rotifers should clump against the glass.

Crashed on me, I need to hold off until after soccer season. So much going on I forgot 1 day and boom all parished. I will get this down.

Buy a cheap jewelers loupe from Amazon. Lighted ones are nice too because the rotifers will be attracted to it. Best $3 investment I ever made.

Yes, raising baby clowns wasn't too bad but keeping a rotifer culture going was nigh unto impossible!

I use a jewelers loupe. Office Depot has them for the $10.
