Live Sand Web Like Appearance

Yesterday I received package one. As soon as the water cleared up enough for me to see into the tank I could tell that the sand had a weird appearance. Over most of the sand i can see there seems to be what look like small webs. Is this normal? IF not what is it and what should I do to rectify the situation? I am new to the reefing business so any imput would be most apprecaited.

Whatever it was that caused the web like appearance I described, it is no longer there. It definitly was not alive, I am guessing it had something to do with the sand getting settled.

I will keep an eye out to see if it reoccurs and get a picture, but I have a feeling I've seen the last of it.
