Hi all,

I have a 75 gal Salt water tank and unfortunately I have to put it down due to a move :(. I want to sell all my live stock to responsible hobbyists who have established aquariums. I have 3 fish several corals and invertebrates. Please call me or email me for details or if you want to see what I have (see my gallery). I need to sell them before May 15th.

Thanks for your help ;)

Hey Cagdas, you did it!

It would help if you posted the livestock you have plus a price. It's actually RC rules that you have to post prices when selling stuff. I am sure things would get nabbed up pretty quickly if you made a list anyways.

I am working on a list of live stock and the asking prices. I would be open to the offers. As I have most of them close to 3 years I am some how attached to them and might ask unrealistic prices but I hope we can work things around.

Thanks again for everyone helping me find new houses for these little creatures.

Unrealistic prices are fine, it's just that you run the risk of having this thread completely removed by the Reef Central staff if you don't list prices for your critters. Plus people will be more inclined to buy them from you if you give them some idea of what you are looking for, even if it's a high price to begin with.

As an aside...if you price them high it's pretty doubtful that people will take them off your hands. It's just a function of "I can get this cheaper somewhere else" because these guys aren't attached to the little animals like you are. So picking up one from a LFS versus from you will be no difference to them, ya know?

I'm not trying to get you to sell things hella cheap...I just would like to see you find good homes for your stuff and am trying to help you with *how* to do that.

Hi all,

I guess the list scared everybody, I only heard from two people. As I mentioned before I am open to reasonable offers, I just want to find good places for the live stock. If I canââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t find anybody to take them I will give them to Ripley's Aquarium.

It might be helpful to put the list directly into the post... I'm having trouble getting the file to open and I imagine others might be also.

Here's the list:

Name Price
Brain Coral (Favites sp.) $50
Button Polyp (Protopalythoa sp.) Colony Polyp (Zoanthus sp.) Attached to a big rock ~10 lbs $100
Brain Coral, Wellsophyllia (Trachyphyllia radiata) $50
Button Polyp (Protopalythoa sp.) Attached to a big rock ~10 lbs $80
Green Reef Chromis (Chromis viridis) give away
Candy Cane Coral (Caulastrea furcata) $30
Blue Tang (Paracanthurus hepatus) $70
Yellow stripe Maroon Clownfish (Premnas biaculeatus) ideally sell with the anemone $50
Scarlet Skunk Cleaner Shrimp (Lysmata amboinensis) $15
Peppermint Shrimp (Lysmata wurdemanni) $10
Ruffled Ridge Coral (Turbinaria sp.) $50
Bulb Anemone (Entacmaea quadricolor) Attached to a big rock ~10 lbs $70
Flower Pot Coral (Goniopora sp.) $40
Pistol Shrimp (Alpheus sp.) $25
Colony Polyp (Zoanthus sp.) $35
Hermit Crabs $2 each
Thin Finger Leather Coral (Sinularia spp.) attached to a big rock ~10 lbs $80
Other live rock with polyp offer
Live rock $5/lbs

I'd be interested in the pistol shrimp if you can ID the species, but couldn't pay more than the going online rate for it (~$15).

Hi DMBillies,

I will try to format it and put it directly when I copy and past everything get mixed up. I will fix it today or tomorrow.

Thanks for the list Dave,

I will try to identify the pistol shrimp, it is hard to see him but I will try my best.

Ok here is what the pistol shrimp looks like I could not find the species name. I hope this will help. the picture is not from my tank I found it online but I know the one I have looks like this.

Several of you reminded me that the prices are very high so I would do my best to relocate all of the live stock. Thus if you like anything in the list and think it is too expensive please send me a PM and we can talk about the particular species you are interested. I will either donate them or sell them to you guys so anything would help me to set up a new tank in my new place. I can trade them with equipments or dry goods. Let me know

Does anybody know where I can find a box to fit a 75G tank? Anybody recently bought one that came in a box and by chance keep the box. I am trying to fit it into a wooden cradle but nothing is big enough.

Cagdas,
I would love your zoas but I am very broke at the moment. For your tank, either buy some egg crate/foam, the kind that you sleep on or use blankets and shrink wrap. Put the tank in the wooden cardle and fill in the empty spaces with either more foam, blanket, or cardboard. As long as the tank does not shift in the wooden cradle is should be fine. Also if you are using a Uhal put the tank in the front and place heavy items to wedge it all in place. You should be ok then. Good luck

Thanks for the tips KafudaFish,

The problem is I couldn't find a good base to build the wooden cradle I am working on it. For the zoas time is running out so I might give them to you and you can do what ever you can for me. We can talk around mid may. As I said most of the zoas are on big rocks that is why I asked little high I think I paid more to the rock it self. I also have small frags that you might like I can send you some pictures if you like.

Wow, I appreciate the offer. If you are interested, I would hold them for you and would send you your frags back after your tank was set back up. We could work something out when the time came. I would hate for you to have to start over.
On the cradle, go to HD or Lowe's and buy a sheet of plywood. One sheet should do it. Simply cut to size and add one inch on each side to stuff padding in side. You could also put a top on it so you could put books etc. on top of the box during the move.
Use wood screws to secure all sides. When you unpack simply unscrew the screws and slide the tank out. The plywood would prevent the tank from moving and would protect the glass from something else hitting and cracking it. Hope that helps and let me know what you want me to do.

I start thinking that it might me better to sell the tank too if I found a buyer. Is there any body interested in a 75 gallon tank and a stand? Let me know, moving this thing to California would be really painful.

That's what I was thinking this whole time. I mean a 75g tank isn't that expensive, esp. if you move to California. There are TONS of reef clubs out there and I'm sure you could find a good used tank at some point.

I don't know of anyone who needs a 75g tank is the only problem.
