live stock

Looks a little better but i think a 30 gallon is too small for an angel imo. Also, fairy wrasse is a little broad. Some are suitable for a 30 gallon reef others are not.

I have a cherub pygmy in my 29g other than that all the other dwarf angels get too big imo.
i also plan on getting a blenny. i recommend the starry blenny the pictures online don't do them justice they're so cool in person

IMO, a filimented flasher wrasse, carpenters flasher wrasse, yellow coris wrasse, or any of the smaller less aggressive wrasses would be good for the group you mentioned. I think that dwarf angels might be a bad choice if you are new to this, because they are often a bit sensitive, you could try either a blenny or maybe one of the more hardy species like the cherub fish or flameback angel.

Well I suppose you could get away w/a cherub angel. it's just that for angels the bigger the tank the better. I aslo agree w/ the flasher wrasses, really awesome fish. Starry blennys are cool, I like midas, bi-color, black sailfin, and tail spot blennys as well.

hey guys i just want to give an update on the cycle of the tank.
ammonia 0.
nitrite very high. cnat even give a number from my chart
nitrate around 20.
is this normal or should be worried?? also how long does it take for the nitrites take to come down. the tank was started on
4-12-08

the angel is out. my girlfriend didnt like the way it looked. as for the flasher wrasse that got the eh response. so anything else......

That's kind of unfortuante, flasher wrasses are really cool. Try showing her some different fish and see which ones she likes.

As for the nitites it's just part of the cycle. The amonia will spike then go down, then the nitrite will spike an go down, and lastly the nitrate will spike and that's when you do about a 50% maybe more waterchange.

so here is the list :
2 perc clowns
1 red firefish
1 yellow/red coris wrasse
1 purple firefish

if i can keep both wrasses then i will keep them and not the purple firefish.

No blenny either!?!? This is unbeliveable...

A red coris wrasse will quickly outgrow a 30 gallon. A yellow coris should be fine as long as you have sand bed.

yes to a sand bed.... i had a bad experience with a scooter blenny... im not sure if he had th right food, so if there is a better one than that one? i was thinking of maybe getting a lawnmower blenny.... what do you think

A lawnmower blenny should be ok as long as you have plenty of algae to support its diet. My favorite shrimp are the cleaner shrimp and the fire shrimp. In order to have a clam you'll need to have bright lighting and perfect water parameters.

well light i will have. as for the water that we will see later on down the road. i was thinking
5 nasarius
1 fighting conch
10 mexican turbo snail
2 cleaner shrimp
2 fire shrimp

as for the lawnmower blenny i will add him last only if need be for the algae. was thinking about a black sailfin....

that yellow wrass if it is the same as mine will eat snails if it does not like the food you are feeding it. I say go look at workers instead of pretty ones with an attitude.

I had the same idea as you when I first started, more corals than fish. then you get bored and add fish, then you want to take out a certain fish because it is the dominant fish that picks on otherfish. I read this in RC the more inexpensive a fish is the more its gonna cost down the road.

your cycling is right on track with those numbers--by week five they should be down to zero

Black saifin blennys are cool. I had one once but I think it died by getting sung by my anemone.:( A cardinalfish is a good choice, they really don't do a whole lot but they still look cool. If you get one though I would reccomend getting it tank-bred.
