Liveaquaria/diversden question

Hi there, last question of the day.

I see diversden's prices are usually higher than the regular liveaquaria. I understand diversden sells what you see and also QT their livestock. Is that the reason for the difference in price? Or am I missing something?

That's pretty much it.

They're held in different facilities and shipped separately. Some people have reported different shipping/packing techniques from each, but I don't think there are any material differences other than the WYSIWYG aspect.

Yes that the reason, however it's hardly an actual qt. Just a money grab marketing scheme, imo.

The wysiwyg is valuable.

The "qt" is also valuable. Even though it isn't a ttm, prazi, 6 weeks of observation qt...

They still keep the fish for a couple weeks, feed it, and treat for any problem they see.

I have had an expensive large blue hippo from wysiwyg top $ die of ich in 1 week....

Having said that... they still have the best quality life stock.
Just that the saying," QT everything" is very true.

DD fish are "conditioned" not QTed. Big difference there, conditioned means eating well basically. If in the two weeks the fish is being conditioned it shows signs of disease they will treat the fish but again not a real QT. Liveaquaria fish come straight from Quality Marine. DIvers Den fish come from Wisconsin

Just received a Goldentail moray eel(Banana eel) from DD and I was shocked that the salinity was 1.017. Bought many fish from DD before and their salinity usually comes in at 1.025. What the heck? Had to acclimate the eel a little longer than I planned! The packing was exceptional!!
I always thought that DD's fish are not QT'ed but conditioned a bit to aquarium life and at least eating before going on sale.

Two shipments from liveaquaria so far.

First one was dd and was exceptionally packed. Shipped from Wisconsin. Shipping weight 3.8 lbs.

Second was an ORA clownfish fish variation, not from DD. It was shipped from Florida. Shipping weight on label was 1 pound but it was actually about the same weight as the first one. Probably a vendor trying to maximize his profits? It was twice as expensive and no where near packed as nice as the DD.

All true ... DD fish are acclimated back to full salinity and ship out at 1.025, versus LA that are not and typically ship at around 1.018. Plus, there are 'rare' items on DD that you will never see on LA. Though there have been exceptions, I typically only buy those unusual things from DD; polyzona tang, Lapillus leopard, potters wrasse trio, etc. otherwise LA fish are my default.

I wonder how come my Banana Eel shipped from DD showed up with a 1.017 salinity! First time for everything I guess....

Dunno. All of the dozen or so orders I've had shipped from Wisconsin came in at 1.024/25. Maybe you measured wrong or it really didn't come from DD.
