Hey all. So I've recently had my Hydra leds (regular not 52) at 50% reduction. After 2 weeks I bumped it to 40% reduction and my lobo appears to be bleaching. Lights are 12" from the water. Any advice for placement? Leathers and rock flower nem are doing fine at the top. I was under the impression these can handle high light? Thoughts

Move it down to the sand for awhile & see how it responds.

If it doesn't look good now and the lighting comes into question, leaving it where it's at is definitely not the answer. GL.

Your lights may be 12" above the water but your lobo is only 4" under the water! As cloak suggested, move it down to the sand and give it time.

There really is no "typical" placement for corals IME. Each tank is different, so it's just a matter of time before you find the right spot. Bullseye! ;)

I wouldn't say they like high light, not intense LED light at least. If it was T5 I bet you'd be ok up that high but LEDs are very intense light that high, move it to the sand for sure.

I have read on these that they like more light than similar LPS corals, but where you have it placed would be a spot for Acroporas, and in nature acros are usually the ones shading out lobos several feet below.

Yeah I moved it down to the bottom and slightly shaded and it seems to be puffing up more and getting some more color. Trial and error I guess heh
