Local Fish Stores

I have been out of the hobby for about 3 years, due to the hurricanes that helped wipe out my tank. I have recently purchased a CAD lights 25g with a 150 HQI. Wish it was bigger but have issues with space.

I am from Miami, but I am looking forward to going to Ft Lauderdale on Wednesday to see what stores they had and what they were selling. I wanted to see if anyone could give me some names and addresses of stores that I could pick up some stuff.

I am mostly interested in SPS and clams but will take the exotic soft or LPS also. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

PS- If anyone knows of any good stores in either North or Very South Dade (Homestead) that would be greatly appreciated also

Here is a link to Chrisaggie's MS Excel spreadsheet of LFS in Dade and Broward:

http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1008599

you can get an excel reader free from Microsoft.com if you don;t have Office/Excel, or a full suite from www.openoffice.org

You would probably need to give a more exact location, though, as there are MANY good LFS' in Broward, ranging from Plantation/N. Lauderdale, down to Miramar.

Beverly's Pets on University and Pines had some clams last week.
Age of Aquarium in the SuperTarge plaza on University and stirling Rd had clams, scallops (electric flame and plain flame), don;t remember if Reef's Edge (Orange Drive 2 blocks west of 441)had any clams, though, but they have tons of coral . Fishes of Eden on 120th and Miramar Parkway has scallops and clams, some corals.

Never been to Coral Reef Farm, but alot of folks on here praise them. They're in the spreadsheet. East of 441 on Sheridan or Stirling I think? I'm going to definitely pay them a visit....

in homestead i only know of one shop called aquaphoria on US1 just north of 320th st. its not very big and neither is their livestock selection. otherwise the nearest two stores are Top Hat Aquarium and Aquarium Dreams, both are good. Top Hat has a better soft coral and fish variety and well as MUCH better customer service in my opinion.

Thanks for all the help. Also thanks for the link to the list. It is good to see all the stores around.

I am just going to go to a few stores in Broward, no specific area though. From what I have read looks like Exotic Aquatic would be a good one to visit.

Not sure if I will still be up there, but when does the Fragstravaganza start? Also can I buy frags, due to the fact that all I have are frags and do not feel like trading them out at this point.

I know there used to be one in the area of 4500 N. University Dr. They even have a website, but I am unsure if they are still there and they are not on the list.

Again thanks for all the help

Rich

Rich, the Fragstravaganza officially starts at 5.00pm, but I'm sure if you go earlier, Pat will be glad to start cutting for you then.
Also, those frags are sold, not traded, so you can get inches and inches.........
