Local hermit crabs

I live in Southern California and have "access" to hermit crabs in tide pools at low tides. Has anyone put them into a tropical reef tank? During the summer time the water in the tide pools can get pretty warm.

I live on the east coast of Florida and have put several local caught hermit crabs in my tank.

They havent messed with any of the zoos or polyps but love to eat my chestnut turbo snails.

Even though the tide pools are warmer than the actual ocean their natural habitat is still the cool waters of southern California. Though they may survive for awhile they probably would not fair well over time.
