I am looking for a pod culture i can buy/ acquire locally. I just did a revamp on my refugium and i want to replenish the pod population quickly ( mostly for my manderin's sake). Any info would be helpfull!! Thanks!

Let me know if you are going to the Westside frag meeting. I have one 10 gal culture I have not poured into my tanks. I can save you some if you let know. House cleaning time, once a year I start them over.

I found a site that sells them and they are on sale right this very moment with free shipping. $9.99 for 200 if it really is free shipping I will be purchasing some. Matter of fact I'm going to call them right now. Saltwaterfish.com

ok
9.99 for pods
9.99 processing
9.99 cuase Fed Ex is charging higher % becuase of gas prices.
after that it is another 9.99 per 200 pods
So if you guy would like to order spliting the shipping fee how ever many ways I would be happy to order. I have purchased from them in the past and the quality is good. let me know unless someone int he valley has them I'll purchase from them Monday. Tehy also have a "specails" list you may want to look at if you add it to the order you get really nice deals. trying to help Jonathan

ATR has live pods. Also carry the Tigger pods from Reef Nutrition. Plus the reef stew has all sorts of little critters.

saltwaterfish.com has a minimum order of $79 I think....I would take up the offers of cheato from locals, or buy pods from ATR personally. Though I have ordered from SWF before and liked them.

just suggesting places I would perfer to buy local as well. Keeps us all afloat that way didn't know ATR had them I'll be going down Monday then to see what's up. Thnaks

I seeded my fuge with Tigger pods from ATR and also reefstew.
Its amazing how they multiply. I think that Aquarium Arts sells them as well.

Thanks for all the responses! I am going to have to check out that reef stew. Oh and "truthdesigns" and "bajabum" PM's sent :)

AQUATOUCH has live tigger pods most of the time and reef stew fresh every friday.
That's where the guy that makes it started selling it.
His daughter worked there, I know her.

Ok here comes newbie question #2 I know what copepods are and even what tiger pods are but what is "reef stew"

Reef Stew is live cultured zooplankton. Its food for your corals. The fish love it as well. It contains rotifers, artemia, amphipods, copepods and shrimp and fish larvae. I either get it at ATR or AT. Smadascott, I have a 5g set up right now that has a "ton" of critters. My refugium does as well right now too. If your going to be at either frag meet coming up I could bring you a cup of bugs.

buffalobunch: curious about your 5g set up. is that for breeding critters? does it sustain your tanks needs?

I had originally started it for a nano on the computer desk. I put left over crushed coral from big tank. Its been set up for 5 or 6 weeks now and the floor is just crawling. My husband has been working on a stacked refugium system for my 120 that is almost complete. It will have 5 tanks all together. Instead of having a nano on the desk I just decided to let it go nuts with the bugs and put them all in the refugium when it is complete. Hubby built some weir boxes out of acrylic and one needed a little more resealing. Getting extremely close to hooking it up though.
