Hey everyone,
is there a local source to buy 5 gallon water jugs? Looking to get one or two so I can purchase water and transport it then maybe in the future if I purchase a RO/DI system store water. TIA

Several years ago I picked up 2 "Alhambra style" 5g clear with a blue tint water jugs from KMart in Ptown. Target may have them too.

These are not buckets but the type of jug one sees upside down on water coolers. Like what normal, non reefing people use. ;)

HTH.

I've seen those for sale but how are they when you're pouring out the water, I figured it would be a pain because there is no vent hole.

Define pain. Yes, they have no vent and the opening is smaller, so pouring is slower. If you're concerned about splashing, then don't tip the container so far that the entire opening is covered by water trying to escape. Then pouring is smooth. Mine have a molded in handle though which is super convenient. Without a handle they would be more cumbersome.

They're intended for potable water, so I assume they're food grade, whereas I'm not sure empty salt buckets are. Of course, that hasn't stopped me from using empty salt buckets as water vessels.

It's not the splashing I'm concerned with, it's the slow pour, like when you're changing oil and waiting for each quart to pour into the engine block or if you buy the 5 quart oil bottles and are usually standing in an odd position waiting for 4.5 quarts to pour out into you're engine block. I do like that you said yours has a handle, that makes life easier with those bottles.

I was i. Fishpros yesterday and some a dozen or so ona shelf. Not sure if they are for sale but if your still looking for a proper container that may be something to check out

I'm anti-wallyworld so tend to not shop there. That was the first online resource I could find. Seemed a bit $$ to me too.

Winco? Not that I know of around SR. Closest is Davis. Kinda far to drive for a water jug unless you are already driving I-80! :)
