Im not quite sure how it is possible nor am I sure on why it is happening in my tank but my 20000 leagues lokani is browning out on me. I have a 24 by 24 inch cube with a 250w metal halide above it and 4 t5's.

Anyone know why this might be happening???

What about flow? Water parameters? Proximity of other corals? Any fish that could be stressing it out? How old are your bulbs? How old is your tank?

1400 gph flowing through tank, not even close to other corals, potters angel but he doesnt know this coral exists, 2 month old 10000k bulb, 6 months old tank, water params are good:

pH 8.2
Amonia, Nitrites, Nitrates are all 0
Calcium is up around 400
Magnesium is 1500
Alk is 3.5
SG is 1.025

i might have to do with the 6 months old tank, just my opinion;)

just out of curiosity, what would my tank being six months old with 60lbs of rock and 60 lbs of sand have to do with the coral browning?

What do you take your salinity reading with? If you use those plastic meters they are not accurate. If you have a refractometer then could be temp related. Any calibration issues with your temp meter?

Maybe take your water into one of our LFS or a friends to test SG, parameters etc just to be on the safe side?

that a good idea...i am heading to sea in the city after my trig exam to see marcyes new corals so i will bring in a sample for them.

A good idea - good luck on the exam and let us know what you find out!

I can't wait for finals week to be over!!!!
