I recently bought a long tentacle plate fed it brine the second day no signs that it was eaing so today I bought frozen silverslides and cut one up and gave it to him. He has been eating it for 8 hours. Is this normal? Tentacles were moving and then stopped when he got the silver to its mouth. Mouth was not gaping until 5 or ten min after I put the silver in.

Just want to make sure he's alright

Thanks for looking.

Took my bubble coral almost 24hours to ingest a Banggai.

(Don't ask, long story lol).

Is it really eating the silverside, or is it just sitting near it's mouth? If it's just sitting there the plate may not be interested. If the fish is actually inside the mouth, well, let him eat!

It takes my orange fungia 15-20 mins to eat a few pieces of mysis.

I've never fed silversides to my heliofungia simply because the silversides looked overwhelmingly large for the coral. I decided to use mysis, and it worked out pretty well. The mysis was ingested within 5 minutes.
The plate coral may still be acclimating your tank, so you may want to consider holding out on the feeding for a week or so.
