Long term success with DD wild acro colonies?

ALL wild caught colonies are riskier.

Gary, DD because of their above and beyond quarantine, etc. That's all.

I have a small loripes wild colony from them that is doing fine. Never bought any others.

Out of about the 12 I have bought the last year I only have 4 left. I don't blame DD they are wild colonies. Honestly when it comes to corals DD doesn't do anything beyond what most retailers do. Maybe a few more days of observation but what more can they really do to get corals accustomed to aquarium life?

I have one dd wild spec that has survived a couple years. I thought i was going to lose it soon after purchasing, but it has come around. I lost over half of the colony due to lousy husbandry. Fixed the problems and the coral turned around. Now it is a relatively fastgrower. Not much for color though.

With most all wild corals including mari the best results I've had are with small and open corals. The larger the coral and the bigger they are the harder it is to make them happy.

The only pieces i have that I know are wild are still going strong. I have three all are over 5 years old and the oldest is maybe 8 or so. Several others, I have are maybe wild. I had to agree with my LCS owner this week when he told me that he noticed no difference at all in the suvival rate if they came in healthy to begin with. If the coral comes in severely stressed then.... all bets are off. He also told me that he likes wild better as in his experience, they are less likely to hold pests than maricultured.
