Long time and a short story

well a few folks may recall seeing me here before....

quick story:

last year I had a lot happening and in the end I realized that i had to move to a smaller apt. and sell my 90 gallon monster tank.

so early this year I went thru that and kept a few things in a 29 gallon bio-cube.

well things have settled down and the bio-cube is staring to be ok after the move and the crazy work load i have been doing for the last 6 months.

So now i just might be back around and ready to work on a smaller scale reef....

and yes rich i still have rock and stuff from the 90 and a gorg almost too big for that tank :)

some folks who go stuff from the 90 were amazed at the cirrters i was pulling out and and giving them for next to nothing....

Richard, I am still in the same area, just closer to the front gate then i used to be. :)

good to see you made it through still reefing.

thanks, i really hated having to sell the 90 and all the gear that went into building it.... and many of the cirtters...

i had a yellow figi leather that was getting really big, and a number of hard corals that were nice....
stars, shrimp , tunicates, sponge and fishes...

so untill i buy a house i am sticking with the 29 - that i can move w/o a crew of movers :)

Denny!! It's good to see you again. I thought about you from time to time and wondered what happened to you, especially when I found a bunch of good isopods in my nano tank. Your posts on good isopods vs. bad isopods were as entertaining as they were eductional. Welcome back!

Sorry to hear that you had to get rid of your 90g tank :sad2: How are you liking the small reef?

yeah the selling stuff was a bummer.

the small tank, a 29 Biocube with a saphire skimmer.

thinking about:

www.nannotuners.com - DIY lights they have two packages i am debating:
one is 2x36 pc lights - the bc29 has 2x36 stock so that mod gives a total of 4x36 watts but thats no metal halide.
they also have a 150 watt metal halide package
but with that it would cost more and i would have to get a chiller
so the chiller + the MH lights would cost a *LOT* more than the pc lights.

the question is do i want sp corals in the 29.... still debating that.

the other thing is flow in the tank, i have been looking at the nano wave package like
http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_ViewI...dor~idProduct~HD005901~idCategory~FIPHAD.html

i had tunze in the 90 but this is *way cheaper* but I do not know much about them yet....

when i decide on the lights and the chiller then i can start in on more stocking of the tank.

right now i have a gorg, a brain and some small zoa's and a sponge.
some hermits and snails, 2 mantis
2 clowns and 1 blenny.

the blenny will go after meat even to the point of taking it from the green mantis .... brave fish ... or foolish perhaps ?

both mantis are small one red one green.

they are from the tbs rock of course.

I am 99% sure they have spawned more than one time....
I have got up and found a swarm of small swimmers in the tank but they never seem to make it for more than 1 day.

or i might have a few small mantis that will show up one day

FWIW, according to Dr. Roy Caldwell the survival rate of mantis spawn in aquaria is just about zero, unless heroic measures are taken.

I did quite a bit of reading after something shrimp-like spawned in my tank, and I about stroked out thinking my tank was going to overrun by an army of stomatopods.
