Longevity of Male Lyretails

is it just me or do the females live way longer than the males? each male that i've had has only lived 3.5years. wondering how long everyone else's are lasting...

I'm guessing its because the male has to expend so much energy keeping the harem in check and breeding every night?

anyone else experience this?

I had a pair for 6 years.. then the female died and I sold the male to someone else.
Then my friend broke down his tank.. He gave me another pair that he had for about 2 or 3 years. I keep that pair up for another 3 years up until today.

So they can live for a long time.

All of them start as females. So if you get a male it is likely already older.
