Look What Reeflux Bulbs Have Done

I wanted to post a picture of my 500SPS tank. I have used just about every bulb on the market and I can honestly say the ReefLux bulbs have really added to the success I have been having. I first started with the 10000K RL and my growth rates were out of control. With the amount of corals I have I was about to have a turf war for space. I decided to mix in some 12000K RL and WOW! The colors that come out from this bulb is even more amazing! I am really excited about these 12000K lamps and how may tank looks mixing the 10K and 12K together. I still have a good growth rate, but the color that my corals are showing are the best I have seen since I have been in this hobby.

yes, they are 400w reflux bulbs. I am using 3 12000k and 2 10000k on a tank that has only been running for 5 months now. I have had some corals grow up to 5" in this small amount of time.

Man, I feel the same way about the 12k's. My mother in law stopped over( non fish person) and could not believe the difference.

How tall is your tank? I am wondering if 400w would be better for me?

Reef Fanatic. I love love love the color, everything just pops. But I worry about the par, as they are not tested. I felt confident with the 3 250 XM's over the 280. I felt OK with the 10 reeflux, but the 12k not so much. They are just not as bright. I really think the ulitmate set up would be 400w 12k reeflux with no supps. Too bad I just bought the bulbs and ballasts. :(

Looks very nice but I think with different combos you can achieve the same thing. Like others, I can't loser the par of a 10k xm on a 250 ballast. However I supplement with 320 watts of VHO which give me a rich color. My corals also pop like yours. I think if you are going MH only, then reeflux or another bluer bulb can be the way to go.

but Jay...thats alot of actinic to run....xm10k's just have too much yellow to have to balance out, especially if you like a more bluish tank than white. unbelievable PAR though.

I have to say my XM/VHO combo did not come close to the colors of the 12k. The 12k bulb is in a different league for color. Don't get me wrong the color on the XM/VHO combo was good. To be honest I've never seen corals pop like they do with these bulbs.....

That's not alot of aticnic really. Only 2 6' bulbs on a 180. I think if you can't do a combo that works for you, then go with the 12k definetly. The drop in par for 12k was just way too much for me. I'd rather have the jaw dropping growth and color so I run the VHO's too.

I wasn't trying to knock it by any means, just saying I think you can achieve similiar color by other means. I really loved the SE aquaconnect too but the price/par pushed that out for me too.

ohh man...sorry Jay, thats exactly what i run! i thought the 6' were 110W each, just realized thats the 4'ers ;)

i run 2 ReefLux 12K's on e-ballasts and 1 10K on a mag,(all 250W SE) and they(12K's) alone do not make my corals POP like actinic...they do provide awesome color though :)

......i thought the aquaconnects tested out well? going to sanjay's now :)

They do on magnetic ballasts. I run icecaps. Still both didn't compare to XM 250's. I honestly couldn't see a huge difference with the SE except the greens really really popped. It was really odd how it glowed under white.

i thought the aquaconnects tested better on electronics? particularly the reefanatic.

The one I saw showed the m80 really tearing it up. I believe it was that one. The electronic it was quite a bit leap down. I still have a bulb that I was going to ship to a guy but I lost the guys name so I can't recall who it was.
