looking for a good kalk powder

I use balls but I was told there is a product made for the hobby that contains magnesium. What is the name of this product?

Some manufacturer's claim magnesium additions(Brightwell does; I believe). but any soluble magnesium will precipitate out of solution before getting to your tank.

I also use Bulkreef supply calcium hydroxide(kalk). I've used it for a couple of years. Seems to be a good product.

Yes, one of Chris Brightwell's most poorly designed products. He should be embarrassed about it. :(

At the moment, I use the calcium hydroxide from Bulk Reef Supply.

I don't think anyone can afford to have products like this in their line. When I see something like this, it makes me question the quality/research/science involved in the rest of a particular brand of products.

I think this goes to show that a lot more money can be had off of the hobbyist's ignorance than off of hobbyists who are knowledgeable. I would say that the cast majority of people in this hobby wouldn't know about the mg additive not doing squat. They are told by the lfs they need ca mg alk and an all in one just looks good! :lolspin:

Many times the LFS doesn't know that the Mg additive in the Kalkwasser doesn't do squat. Last weekend the owner of one of the better LFS stores in my area recommended Brightwell's product to help with Mg depletion in my tank.

Just beginning to use ESV kalk. Too early to give a true result but everything seems to be fine so far. I brought up my numbers with their cal & alk by hand dosing and figured I'd grab the kalk as well - had really good reviews on premiumaquatics. good luck ;)
