Anyone is SBay have the "Majano Wand" or any other knock off that kills Majano's with electricity? If you do can I rent it???

I used Aptasia X and they went away for about a week, then came back double in numbers!

Thanks.

go to walmart and buy some pickling lime and mix a ton of it in some RO water then, suck it up in your aptasia x syringe and turn off all your powerheads and return for 20minutes... I've found if you use hot RO it works a little better.. inject all those boogers.. Or you can always try a Copperband Butterfly..

I havent seen the wand your talking about it sounds pretty cool though..

BammBamm, your suggesting is the number answer I find doing a search. Ill try it out. Do a search on the wand. It is pretty cool but pricey. Maybe I should by it and then make it a service... "Majano Exterminator" at your service :lolspin:

Happy 4th everyone

you can make your own. Check out the diy's. Its easy and cost very little. You just need to find the SS wires. You can get that from any race shops or aircraft maintenance shop selling or using safety wires. For power source I just used an old dell notebook power adapter. Nothing like 20v to zap them little suckers.

The Majano Wand does not kill by electrocution, there is never any electricity going into the water. The Majano Wand operates on the principal that when electricity is properly emitted into salt water it produces two gases. One of these gases is hydrogen, which is generated at the stainless steel tip. Hydrogen is the lightest element on earth, which converts into a gas when created, and the gas form of hydrogen is larger than the liquid size of salt water. When the probe of the Majano Wand touches the Majano tissue, it causes the water in the cells of the Majano to turn into hydrogen. These animals are mostly water so the Majano is forced to expand from the inside out at a rapid and drastic scale, which literally disintegrates any living Majano tissue instantly.

As someone, that has wasted their $ on the wand...I can tell you, that it is basically, USELESS!
Unless the majanos/aptasia are fully exposed, and you spend enough time to 'zap' every living cell, it will be back (some within the hour). I let some friends try it, and they had the same experience.

I ended up getting a bristle tail file fish, and he cleaned my 450g DT, 60g QT and 20g frag tank... in less than 2 weeks...also very easy to catch and remove.

I must agree. I built it, used it, and its impossible to reach the spots that the aptasia retracts into. I bought 15 berghias and problems solved.

Just ordered a bristle tale from live aquaria. Hope I have the same luck as you.

yes, a reef. if he does nothing, at least he's a cool looking fish. if he nips, I'll just take him out.

You can also mix up a kalk paste that will work on them. I have also had success killing them with Aptasia RX, (not Aptasia X).

I've tried the kalk paste with only temporary results. They come back in a few weeks. I'm wondering if that's due to the fact that I can't kalk the majanos I can't see hidden within crevices.

i've thought about using them too. but heard they are known to also known to nip at other corals soft and hard.

I'm gonna go with the Berghia route add at night when wrasses are sleeping

I hadn't had much luck finding a majano predator. Just keeping after it consistently with the joe's juice is the best I guess.

Good luck. Stay on them. They multiply fast.
