Looking for a reef safe angelfish?

I've had a cherub angel for 6 months that hasn't touched a coral in my 36 gallon tank.

They are so darned cute.

I'm watching this thread with great interest to get some ideas for larger angels that are also reef safe as my 180 gallon build is just about ready to get started.

That is a great picture, I've never seen this fish looking so beautiful :)

I've really wanted an angel but seem to find that luck is your best bet when choosing a "reef safe" angel. particularly with flames, potters, ect. I would love to have one but I cringe at the thought of my Cali Tort getting nipped at.

I do know that Brazilian/ African flame-back's will nip but not do much damage, along with cherubs. But the most reef safe are Watanabei, Spotbreast, and Lamarck's Angels, so basically the swallowtails

I think cherubs would get terrorized by my melanurus so that's not an option for me.

I don’t doubt that posters have had no problems yet with Swallowtail, Flagfin (A. trimaculatus), Red Sea Regal, genicanthus melanospilos, Flame, Cherub, Potter, Golden Pygmy, Spotbreast, and Coral Beauty Angels in their reef tanks. But based on what I’ve read here and elsewhere over past ten years, I’m still not putting any of them in one of my SPS/LPS tanks.

No offense intended,

Mike

lol sometimes I wish I was that strong at resisting the urge

Great video as usual, im gonna be building a new tank next year and the true jap masked swallowtail pair will be the center peice.

400 gal tank is really recomended? I know bigger is always better but is there a reason why so big? Ive always heard 150 gal would be fine.

Just started my 90 Gallon mixed SPS/LPS tank again.... would love to get a pair of Dwarfs once its up for a couple of months...

Any opinions on what pair (or trio)? I used to love Bi Colors and Potters, but that Cherub looks awesome...

I have a couple of Tangs (Sailfin and Yellow) that are loving the honeymoon alone atm...

My potter has always been a model citizen, even leaves the clams alone. I don't think he knows how to eat anything other than pellets though.
