Looking for an anemone

fish flipper

I just set up a new 90 gallon reef and I am looking for a very colorful bubble tip. I have 2 snowflake clowns that I would like to host it. The clown fish are still in my 20 gallon and want to add a anemone before I put them into the tank. Anyone have any suggestions? Hoping to get a good size one, maybe 4-6 inches.

I agree, with letting a tank mature before getting any anemone. It takes time for a tank to stabilize and for you to get a feel for keeping all parameters where they need to be. Its best to get a natural host to the type of clownfish you have as they will more readily dive in to their natural host. If not it could be months or even never happen. Bubble tip anemones are not natural host to occelaris or Percula. Your snowflakes are occelaris clownfish. The chances of them being hosted is slim but certainly it happens all the time. Just don't expect it to happen within minutes or days of introducing the anemone. But then again it can happen.

I am not much of a fan of those three different types of anemone. The link you sent also states that the bubble tip will naturally host an ocelearis clown.

No it doesn't say that a bubble tip is a natural host. It says they've been known to host them as I explained to you earlier in this thread. The three carpets are the natural hosts of occelaris. Natural host means in the wild. There are clowns that natural host in bubble tips but they are the meaner ones. Maroons, Clarkii, Tomato and the anemone clown which is also called red/black I believe and there are a couple of others along the lines of the Clarkii body and similar in color patterns.

I also do not agree with that post. Too bab that it was just one post and locked and stickied by a mod. I think it should specify that it is an opinion of the poster. Need to specified natural host or "known to host in aquarium"
The way it is posted novice reefer will assume that the information is "naturally hosted" as in the wild.

I agree with you Minh, it is confusing to new people. Maybe you can talk a mod into letting you fix that post?
