Looking for an anemone

I'm coming back to stl for a few days next weekend (8th and 9th) and was wondering if anyone had an anemone they were looking to get rid of or sell. My clowns really need something to make their home. Also, I will be looking for some small frags. Let me know! Thanks everyone.

Wouldn't add an anemone to your tank. You're a long way away from having a tank stable enough to add an anemone

I actually have two little anemones that traveled with me from my old tank that are increadibly healthy. Again, the water is about 50% of my previous healthy water which has been running for more than a year (with water changes) and all my old healthy LS and LR , and the tank now tests perfectly. There are also a few zoas in there looking amazing and splitting.

Take it easy man. Start with a few easy things and in a month or two your small anemones will grow or you can add one at that pint...

wow I am tired of people telling me what to do.... I have tested my water EVERY day, I have kept half of the previous water, and I will do WHAT I want when I stock my tank, I was NOT asking your opinions on if I'm ready or not for a big anemone, I was asking if anyone was selling one. EVERYTHING tests good, EVERYTHING is healthy so for once... stop telling me what I need. If none of you will help me I will fine a LFS who will.

personally, I would take these guys opinions as FACT, as we are all here to help, but I have a nice large RBTA I will sell for 65 if you need one.....let me know if you need pictures mine split all the time and I have them pretty readily available. Although I do have to give credit to every member of RC for the help of my tank.... my system is considered stable and ready to go due to the advice and help from everyone on here....

We don't want to boss you around in any way. Most of us on here tell people our experiences.

As you know my whole tank went down the toilet because I moved way too fast. I also moved my live-rock ,my sand and my water but I still lost every single thing in the tank...It was NOT fun watching my corral melt away one by one.

RC was designed for exactly this purpose. To HELP people not to make the same mistakes other people have made...

I really hope that you don't have the same problems as many of us did have...

See you next weekend,

BK

I doubt anyone is trying to "tell" you what to do but more trying to save you some grief and give you the benefit of their knowledge and experience.

The bottom line in this hobby is to research things for yourself ... whether by reading or talking to others is up to you.

Have you read of any of the potential problems of keeping more than a single anemone species in a tank or researched the minimum size of tank required to keep an anemone?

Though there are anemones that remain small and would most likely do fine in a 40 gallon tank, MOST experts will tell you that many anemones require a minimum of a 50 gallon tank and many others require a minimum of at least a 100 gallon tank or larger.

Many, but not all, of the folks in this hobby try to give their tank inhabitants a bit more than what is understood to be the minimum requirements to keep their animals alive. This includes a stable, "seasoned" tank of at least the minimum required size.

We are all free to do as we wish concerning what we put into our tanks and when. I like to err on the side of the animals that I'm trying to keep.

Sorry about lastnight, I was a little under the influence, you all know I value your opinions. Just FYI, there is a total of about 60gal of water, and I have read before that they need larger tanks, but I have also heard and seen them do fine in nanos. Thanks for all the help guys and again, sorry. ha

jarob - its not that they need a bunch of space (in most cases) its just that large volumes of water take longer for parameters to change, so there are fewer sudden changes

water stability is important for certain animals, such as anemones

another reason people urge you to be patient is because lot of people do things too fast, have a crash, and then get frustrated and quit the hobby, which none of us want you to do
