Im looking at getting as much info on the carpet anemone's that I can. I know there is two different types how can you tell the difference between the two? What are the care levels between the two of them? If someone could post a link or point out a great book about them the would be great or even your own personl experances with them. Im looking at getting one for my 90gal but I want all the info that I can get on them before I do get one. Thanks for taking your time to help me out.

There are many types of carpets actually 1fishkeeper. Probably the most common being the Haddoni. They light high light / moderate flow and a place to stick their foot between the rock and the substrate. I had mine in my 90g before I upgraded and it was great. (its now in my 190)

Haddoni is the ones that I have been looking at getting eather a blue or green one. But Im just trying to get as much info as I can before I get one and end up killing it because I didnt know what I needed for it to live a good healthy life.

You don't have any tank info filled out in your profile. That makes it difficult to know what anemone would be good for your situation.

I did find a great looking Hoddoni at a store today. Its colors were really bright and green. The store that its at also does tank mantiance for people and when I was talking to the guy he told me that someone had it in there tank. But it ended up eating a couple of there fish so they didnt want it anymore and that is why its there. He also told me that if I wanted it to let him know tomorrow or else he has another tank that he wants to put it in. He even feed it while I was there to see how it took the silverside. It took it down in just a matter of mins. On the plus side is this is just what I have been looking for so that adds some brownie points to it. Please let me know if you think my tank and lights will work for it. Thanks for the replys on this I just want to make sure that it is well taken care of and I dont kill it.

Lightwise you are fine, how much flow do you have in there? They ( haddonis ) aren't found of a lot of flow.

Do you have sand in your tank? (( they prefer to be in the sand, right at the rock/sand interface ))

When you said "Bright" just how bright? Did it look beached at all?
(Does yourT5s have individual reflectors? You may have to light acclimate it )

Was it really minutes for it to eat ? Not a big deal, but would have liked it to be faster. All of mine will pull down 3-4 krill in less then 10 seconds.

I have a great place that I want to put it for flow wise I belive there is low flow in the area I want to place it. On the front left side of my tank where the rocks meet up with the sand. I have about a 3" sand bed in my tank for it. As for "Bright" I was talking about the really bright color of green nice and floresent green. I have been looking at a lot of pictures of them and it looks just like most of the others that have been in a tank for a while with the dark rich colors. And no it didnt look bleached at all the color was true all the way around it. And for it to eat the silverside I would say it took under a min but for me and my first time ever seeing something like that in my mind it was a lot longer than what it really did take. The more I think about it the more that I want to get it. The price on it is great after pricing them online "after shipping charges it would come to more than I can get this one". Size of it I would have to say its about 6"-7" wide. Not really large but not really small.

Im not the best picture taker there is also the color on it looks washed out. But its not its just my camera that makes it look that way. Also I had a hitchhiker that came along for free.

One other cool thing about it is the stripes it has. The guy that I got it from said it has had them for the last year and a half so Im willing to say that they are there to stay. I read about someone else on here that had a hoddoni that was striped also and he had his for like 8 years or something like that. I also belive he stated that they are harder to come by or something like that I will see if I cant find that thread again and double read it to make sure that is what he said.

That was me that said it. :)

And I have had my tan one for 9+ years, and it still has its stripes.

Your looks really good, congrats. And love the crab.

Having you say that is a great thing. Well tonight I thought that it was looking really good and it took the move really well so I thought I would try to give it some food. It took about a 1/3 of a silverside in no time flat. Plus its all open up really well and eating so I take that is a really good sign that its healthy. Now all I got to do is get my clowns to take to it. So Im trying the picture of some taped to the tank right next to my nem. I will let everyone know how it goes but so far they have stucked together really well and they move to the picture and then run away then they do it over and over again. I will keep everyone posted oh how it turns out.

I have kept a couple of haddoni carpets over the years. never had any luck getting the percula complex clowns to host in it. hopefully you will. and if you pull it off, would like to hear the details on how you went about it. IMO, just too difficult to induce such a relationship with S. haddoni. Luckily, I was able to find and S. gigantea (a real nightmare trying to get an importer to identify the difference between the haddoni and gigantea/mertensii) that was bleached but has colored up nicely.

As you probably know, your haddoni will prefer the sand and can pull down almost completely into the sand when threatened.

Keep us posted!
