looking for parameters for sps

I have never tried to grow or keep sps in my tank yet. Overall i have had much success in keeping leathers zoos palys frogspawn acans. but have never tried to put acros monti's or sps.

i keep my tank now at:
sg 1.025
mg 1320
calc 400
temp average 78-79

I'm no SPS expert but from what I've read, you must also have low nutrients, high lighting, good flow and almost most importantly stability. If you have that, then go for it. Maybe start with something cheaper and work your way up when you feel comfortable.

In addition to the parameters listed (which seem fine to me), you'll need to measure alkalinity and supplement it as needed. Phosphate and nitrate measurements can be useful for troubleshooting. The linked article is very useful, IME.

for me, running bio beads made a huge difference in being able to keep sps longterm. also you must keep water changes consistant to replenish nutrients, i kept my feeding down to moderate every other day and light ever other day. this helped alot as well as having a lighter stocked tank. like i said this is what worked form me. also pay close attention to alk and phosphate.

my best succes for sps was to limit the softies in the tank,as they produce toxins that harm the sps,p04 should read 0 ppm,n03 as close to 0 ppm as possible,alk or kh should be between 10-12 dkh,calcium 420 ppm double ended hqi or mogule base metal halide works great,strong h20 flow,allot of montipora species are great beginners the digitata and capricornis are great.placement should be top of tank.anything else i didnt mention? please add.
