Looking for Plastic Needle Valve

fragger is the input to your reactor regulated, meaning your feed to the reactor.

It really does not matter what u use at the end if u don't regulate your feed with a valve before the water goes thru the last valve it will clog and would not work properly.

clear water can be regulated easily butafter it goes theu the reactor and media goes in the tubing it doesn't matter which valve u use it still gonna be a problem.

No it's not. Right now it just goes into the reactor via siphon.

I was also going to change that and hook it up to the smallest power head I can find.

I don't understand why it is a problem to regulate the water after the reactor? It's clear water with no debris in it.

????????????

Well its truly not remember the effluent comes out of the reactor with dissolved calcium correct!

So its not really clear water so some of the fine particles do accumulate causing your problem. Try this use your same valve before your feed and just simply regulate your output from there.

If you're thinking of doing a filtered pump for the intake, I highly recommend the aqualifter with in-line pre-filter. I've had mine running for a year, and it has not clogged yet. I know a lot of people have had trouble, and say that they've replaced them on a yearly basis, but I've had good luck so far. I also restrict the flow after the aqualifter, but before it gets to the calcium reactor, so it's filtered, and before the actual reactor where debris can be picked up like Manny said.

Hmmm. I've never thought that it could be the dissolved calcium particles that could be preventing me from keeping an accurate drip rate.

Even if I add a pump with a filter and a valve prior to the reactor the outcoming water would still have the fine calcium particles in it. IF that is what is clogging things up and changing the drip rate then it seems like there really is no solution.

hey chuck, i ran a small needle type valve on the output and it would get clogged in a short amt of time too.

i have my calcium reactor running off my return pump, i ran it with an aqualifter but it was waayyy to inconsistant.

need good quality pressure to it.

if you do order from that site, ill jump in and get one too please. 1/4" size.

I thought you said you already tried a needle valve and it kept getting clogged. Why would you want another?

I already ordered it - hours ago. BUT - they were going to add $5 to my order to make the minimum so I added a second valve on to the order. I figured that it would just be a back up.

You can have it if you want it.

Also ordered this pump. Not sure how that's going to work out.

chuck not really b/c u just run the tubing unrestricted with a wider radius(w/o) valve. U regulate before not after.

the valve i have it kind of just sticks on the end of the output tube and u turn the end to adjust. doesnt connect inline at all.

id like to try what manny is saying and just control the flow from the input of the reactor and that little needle valve would do the trick. if not, i have other uses for it for sure. but yea if you dont mind id like the 2nd one u ordered please.

love that site atleast, everything usually comes super fast, next day.

I'll try it that way and see what happens. I'll wait till the valve and pump show up to mess with it. No point in fiddling with it right now. It runs now - I just have to adjust it every other day or so.

chuck no need to wait for the valve since u are not using it lol.

Just regulate the flow prior to entering the reactor with your current valve and leave the effluent side valveless.

That's easier said than done. I can't see where the output water drips out from where the water enters the tubing if that makes sense. It's actually two different rooms of the house.

I might try to figure something out later today IF I'm awake enough. Having outpatient surgery this morning and will probably sleep all day upon returning home.

Dang, there's actually something to this Gas.

I switched it and it has held its own for almost 24 hrs now.

I'm still going to switch it over to a pump and filtered water though when the stuff arrives.

Jamie - your valve will be here on Thursday.

LOL no problem buddy that's your solution now start a thread to sell the valve LOL

good luck and happy reefing.

Naw - Not selling the new valve. I still don't like the JG one. The new needle wheel one "should" work even better.

BTW Jamie: It showed up a day early. The valves are here. You can pick yours up anytime.

Just moving the valve to before the reactor DID help considerably. Now I'm going to add the aqualifter pump into the mix.

Does the valve need to be before or after the aqualifter?

My guess is that it doesn't matter.
