Looking for some Pickling Lime

Howdy folks, I've called around and can't seem to find any of this stuff in stock. I guess it is a summer item at Walmart...

Anyone have a can they could sell me? I'll go ahead and order some online I guess but I'd like to get started without waiting a week or more for shipping and don't want to pay big bucks for "kalkwasser" which we all know is just the same thing.

Also have some macroalgae (chaeto and gracileria) that I could trade for it if interested.

Well, I found some lime! I dug up a post mentioning that feed stores sell it in bulk, it is used in water purification systems. So I checked ACE Hardware. Picked up a 50 lb bag for $3.99. I'm set for about 10 years

You know the only thing that is better than free...is paying a tiny amount and having more than you could ever know what to do with! I think its along the same line as tim allens "more power" idea.

I didn't know you were using Kalk Randy. I have 5 cans of Mrs. Wages coming in the mail. Just make sure what you bought from Ace Hardware is "food grade" lime.

I know the chemistry guys said to watch out for that, they use Mrs Wages lime too.

if you can use it in a water softener wouldnt you be able to eat it? I mean, I dont want to drink something that is not safe to eat!!!!

I just got my Mrs Wages in today. They are 1lb cans & I paid something like $3 each. I figure the 5 cans should last just over 2 years.
