Looking to upgrade protein skimmer

Like my title says I'm looking to upgrade. Currently Im using a ASM G3, for a 120 mixed reef. I am unable to make a huge financial purchase, but I am looking in the avenue up to $400. How is the DIABLO 2500 Reef Octopus Cone Protein Skimmer by CoralVue? Any advise will be taken into advisement.

I have the JNS SK2 on the same amount of water, 90% SPS and love it....It is quiet and skims very well. I also like the theory on the dual chamber shape

For the performance, price, and warranty, you can not beat the Octopus SRO line of skimmers. The BubbleBlaster pumps have a 3 year warranty. The SRO 2000 would be perfect for you. You can get it from a sponsor here, Premium Aquatics at $359. You can see that HERE.

Coralvue/Octopus has a forum here in the sponsor section.

I ran into a local reefer the other day that uses the diablo 2500... hes very happy with the performance. I think he has a 125g tank. You cant really go wrong with the sro 2000 either.

SRO 2000 and Diablo 250 would both work very well. SRO is a little cheaper, but rated a little lower. I prefer the single large pump on the SRO 2000 as opposed to using 2 pumps on the Diablo 250.

If you really want a low price get the NWB200, it's less than $300 and rated for 250.

I use a Diablo 160 on my 75g mixed reef. I'm very happy with the performance, it gives me a consistent skim that is easily tuned with the gate valve. The output pipe is 40mm so to plumb it under your waterline it requires a little modding. I too 1.5" schedule 26 pvc and hit it with a heat gun to make it into an adapter and plumbed off of that. And even with a silencer there's a pretty intense sucking sound on the air intake, a couple feet of hose attached to it really quiets it down.
