Looking to use this led fixture, need some help...

Thanks for the update. I'm sorry to hear that the display tank algae is still growing. Hopefully, it will soon subside.

Its not growing out of control, but then again my ATS has "taken off" yet so I guess I shouldn't complain haha. Hopefully at about the one month mark things will start to turn around.

I will return with updates as things happen...

I gotta go back and read up on how much flow I should have. I have it somewhat slow for now in hopes the algae could get a better foot hold to begin with. I do notice that hair algae is starting to grow as opposed to the pieces I seeded with.

Taken today before the leds came on. I'll try to get the close up loaded...

Hey man. Any updates? I'm anxious to get one of these built and want to see what your experience has been.

Nope still there, everywhere just like always. But the rocks and sand could be leaching any phosphate that it absorbed before I did a mini overhaul. My rock work used to be stacked darn near to the top and up close to the back glass. I couldn't clean or vacuum in those areas for about 3.5yrs. Although I think I have good flow I know 100% there were dead spots. I finally redid the rock work allowing me to clean and allow for more flow back in there.(now it's been about 1.5yrs with new aquascape)

I have pictures of the tank from about 7mths ago when it started popping up. So it's been a long long journey that I actually can't believe it's been that long. The algae has taken many Zoa and a few chalice colonies out by smothering them or just growing over. I went through massive amounts of gfo(before ATS), a good amount of phosguard(before ATS), and tons of salt for water changes.

That's why I've gone to the ATS, I couldn't afford all that crap all the time, I mean 7mths of hardcore medias, cleaning, water changes, lights out periods for up to 5days straight, raising mag with Kent M, and yet after the 7mth battle it's still around just as much as day one.

I am truly at a loss, I looooooooove this hobby, but I just don't know what to do anymore.

Is the ATS growing...absolutely. Is iit out competing the main display...not yet atleast.

Wow. I was kind of hoping that you would come back with great news. I am in a similar situation as yours. I moved everything in my old tank to a new tank and things were great for a few months, but GHA made it back into my tank and it is growing fine in some areas.

I'm going to start dosing vodka soon to see if this helps, but I don't know what we can do to fix this problem.

Good luck with your tank and keep us posted if you see things getting better.

It's won't be better over night. But it will I was in your shoes at one point where I was goin to break the tank down so I gave the ats a shot. Tank is way better now. Some noticeable algae in the main display but not what it's was. My system is a 90g w/sa 302 skimmer lightly stock and if I was to do it gain a will implement a bigger ats in it. For sure. My ats is 6*10

Oh trust me I understand that, patience, after month one of fighting GHA, then two, three.....seven, trust me I get it LOL. I'm not blaming the ATS by any means, those last two pics I posted above were taken on day 51 of it starting from scratch. So that's just a drop in the bucket compared to the 5-5.5yrs this tanks been going.

I will surely keep this updated as any changes are made. Weather that is tomorrow or a few months down the road.

As of now I'll just keep on keepin' on...
