Loose Bearing disc

SERVO

Hey Roger,

My wavebox has been acting up. Everytime I use it, the alarm sounds. To rectify the problem, first I took out the pump and soaked it in vinegar. I then placed it back into the tank still finding that the alarm sounds. I pulled out the pump and examined the propeller.

The bearing disc will not firmly click onto the drive shaft. There are no missing or cracked plastic pieces and the flanges are intact. Do you have any ideas about why the alarm sounds? Is it because the bearing disc is not mounted well on the drive shaft during the operation of the wave box?

I have pushed the flanges out slightly to try to get a better purchase onto the drive shaft. It seems a little more snug. Any ideas? I'd post pictures, but I don't think that it will help you.

Well, I tried the above and the pump has been running without setting off the alarm for about 9 hours now. I'll see how it goes. I see that Tunze re-engineered the propeller shaft. Why?
(I just got my extension sent to me and checked out the pump)

Thanks,

I think they changed them becuase the new one is supposed to run quieter over time (maybe a little louder at first, but after break in is supposed to be quieter) - at least that is what I have heard - when you say bearing disc do you mean that little piece that goes inside the pump that you have to pull out with a bolt, or are you talking about something on the propeller itself?

They really only changed it to accelerate production. For years we tried to use the same parts to save storage space but after demand grew, speed became a priority over storage space. You can imagine someone had to hand assemble everyone of those drive units, now the only hand labor is pressing the propeller on and assembling the finished pump.
