Lost my Kole tang today...

I stopped in to school today to find the lifeless body of my Kole tang stuck to the side of a Vortech.

He was almost 5 years old.

I have no idea what could have done him in. No signs of disease. The Tennenti tang would slowly chase him around the aquarium, but never slashed or really beat him up. This one's a mystery to me.

He was a great fish. I'd love to get another one, but I don't think I'd dare at this point with the established tangs that are currently in there: the Tennenti and a yellow.

R.I.P. old pal...:sad2:

That stinks. I lost a kole in my tank move last month. I'd had mine for 3 or 4 years. I was really bummed. I was also hesitant to get a new one because my yellow is very aggressive. I added a new one two weeks ago and my yellow didn't even blink. My hawk fish made a big display, but the kole was welcomed into the tank within a day.

Sorry to hear the news. I thought I'd share my recent my experience.

Tangs can live for a long time. Koles dont get very large so perhaps it was an adult when you got it. However statistically speaking old age is an extremely rare reason why tangs die in aquarium.

My Mr. Lemon yellow tang is still around in someone's aquarium. Started out as a 3-4" medium size fish about 14-15 years ago.
