I am having an over growth of brown algea, it is in the sand, over my rocks, on the side walls, it is hard to controll, what the heck do I do?

diatoms maybe? excess silicate in your water will do it.....if you dont use R/O water, you might want to start....and if you do...you might want to check your filters.....there are also a few products at your LFS that absorb silicates....good luck

Yes try to keep silicates and phosphates low. Phosgard, Phosban and Rowaphos adsorv both. In addition as mentioned above, more frequent water changes with good RO/DI water will help. If you are dosing Iodine or any kind of vitamin suplement stop adding it.
Get plenty of snails, they love the stuff as a good way to get the silicate they use in growing their shells
