the pump on my osmolator is pumping fine but it sound really weird. when pumping it will switch between a normal low hum to a loud almost screeching sound. it still pumps steady but the sound is rather annoying. does this mean its time to replace the pump? its been in operation for about 2 years. thanks

It could be, it would be wise to at least have a spare on hand but in my experience noise issues come and go, an osmolator pump may be loud for a week or two from some debris or air inside the impeller housing and this tends to resolve itself in time.

Thanks for the response. last night i held the pump upside down under water and gave it a shake. i noticed a few air bubbles come out and the next time it ran it did sound a lot quieter. having said that i am going to pick up a spare.

I have one more quick question. i use my osmolator with the calcium dispenser package. it sat unused for about a year when i moved after college. is there suppose to be a seal between the plastic cap and the calcium dispenser cylinder? reason i ask is because water seems to be leaking from the cap (kalk water going into the bucket of water). if there is where can i get one? thanks again.

Yes, there is a rubber seal that goes in the cap, unfortunately the only way to get the seal is with a new cap.

However, most autoparts stores sell bulk rubber gasket material and you could easily just cut a new gasket. I know Autozone sells a kit with a sheet of cork, a sheet of paperboard and a sheet of red rubber for cutting your own gaskets for about half what the cap and gasket cost.
