Low Growing Macros?

Are there any macros that grow flaton a rock, or sand bed? I just saw on SH.org that someone had a nuisance algae that grew flat like moss. I would love to have something like this instead of a sand bed. I was thinking maybe put some saltwater safe gravel down, then let the plants creep over this, creating a plant bed where copepods, amphipods, ect would live. Anyone know of anything like this, or where to buy it? Basically, anything that grows very low, and spreads quickly. Samala, you probably do, lol.

Nobody knows of any macros that grow low to whatever it's growing on?.....

The macro you had in mind from the other postings is Caulerpa verticillata. Its lovely, but very invasive. There are several other Caulerpas that grow low and form a carpet effect.. such as C. racemosa forms, Caulerpa brachypus (mini prolifera) and C. nummularia.

You could also have plating type macroalgae like Lobophora or Padina, but they are hard to find from vendors.

I believe many of the links in the stickie in this forum have Caulerpa species, Inland Aquatics comes to mind as does Marine Flora. I dont know of anyone who is currently culturing Caulerpa verticillata on purpose but you could continue to monitor the classifieds here on RC. Someone who has it may see this thread and offer you some as well. If you're lucky.

Hmm...called Inland Aquatics, all he has is one or two species of caulerpa. I found someone who is sending me one type though lol.
