Low Profile 36x24x15 Build

i love the re-rockwork bill! I am trying to understand what the nipple valve does on your skimmer exit tube, does it drain water or release air or something? I have not seen that before.

It Is the new way they muffle the noise, And by running moist air through the skimmer pump It helps to eliminate salt creep build up In the volute of the pump which Impedes performance. The air from the wedge pipe Is moist air because you cap the top off and just drill a small breather hole! Quiet and keeps the skimmer going longer between cleanings. All the new super Octos have It like this now too. FYI you can mod any skimmer to work like this too...

Moving to stand

Moving to stand

Bill, totally digging the rockscape. Have you considered stacking a little bit higher to take advantage of the rimless tank (I feel like those can be stacked higher due to the frame not blocking the view).

How are you going to move everything over to the new stand when it comes in? Doesn't sound very fun to me, but maybe you've got something worked out?

Actually I will drain the water Quickly and with 4 strong guys lift the tank onto the new stand, Same with the sump drain and move. This will not really hurt anything when done quickly, Kinda like low tide.
Bill
PS My 185 weighed 600lbs empty and four guys moved that off a P/U and into the house and up on a high stand, No Joke:spin1:

These Fish

These Fish

What fish?
OK So I picked up some typical Cycle Fish, 3 Yellow tail blue Damsels and 2 Bi-color Damsels and a couple of pounds of Carribean live rock with some actual live stuff on It! Most Important of all Corraline of severl colors and some bottle brush Algae, Feather dusters Etc. If there will be a Cycle this should kick start It.:blown::hammer:

Thanks Rhett, Got the skimmer done the right way now and what a difference It made.
I'll explain the next time I see you.

Bill,
I have heard good things about the algae turf scrubber. It seems to do it's job with little investment and little maintenance. I have thought about doing this myself, but have yet to do it, because of my tank having a short open stand in my kitchen. THe wife was not thrilled about that idea. Let me how itturns out if you go that route.

Wow, I've read very little about turf scrubbers, I had no idea that there were entire websites and forums dedicated to them and they seemed to be working so effectively. Cool stuff, would you ditch some of your existing equipment to put one in?

The more I thnk about it, I want to do this instead of vodka dosing my new tank. Decisions decisions.

Bill, Thx for another enjoyable visit. I really love the new tank and it is coming along fast! Seeing it in person has solidified my desire to move to a tank of these dimensions in a year or two.

Bill that algae turf scrubber idea is great. I think I am going to convert my frag tank into one with mutiple sections. Looks promissing.

Make room, I'll get you some small pieces to start with! I had to stop myself at around 15 pcs but the polyp exstension Is so good that I'm really not worried. I'll put some more In tomorrow and see how It goes from there.
It's starting to look like a tank now!
Bill
