I have started a new build as many of you already know! I will try and retrieve all the photos and Info from my Help me Decide thread. This tank hopefully will be much simpler to maintain than the larger tanks I've had In the past, With lower cost, less equipment and less time Involved In keeping a successful reef tank which Is mostly SPS. As I do not have the greatest camera I will do the best I can with Photos. If you do not already know I have decided to go with a 36L x 24W x 15H = 59 gal Give or take with a 40 breeder for a custom sump/ Fuge. The easiest way to show where I have gotten so far Is to make an equipment list of Items I have already bought.

1. Vertex IN 250 Skimmer
2. Lighting which consists of, Lumatek 250W MH ballast W/ Reef Optix 3 HQI fixture Phoenix 14K DE bulb 4 T5 HO 39W Retro kits, with Actinic + Aquablue + and a Fiji Purple by KZ. I will also add some Moonlights and a Led bar from the Critter or maybe two?
3. Coralife 50/50 Compact Fluorescent for the Fuge.
4. Aragonite/ Black sand Mix to get that black and white sand that I found to be pleasing to the eye.
5. Custom stand and Hanging Canopy (Built by Mel) 34 1/2" high to leave room for my skimmer made of Maple with a dark stain to match my flooring In my house. Plus It will have a full 36 1/2" opening to place the sump In easily Into the stand. All custom built and spray finished for durability.
6. Marco rock for Aquascaping and I will add a small amount of Premium Live rock for helping the cycle along.
7. Return pump Is a Panworld which Is dead silent and gives more than enough flow, It say's It's 480 gph but It blows water out of the top of the tank wide open?
8. RKL L 3 with 3 PC 4's ORP PH Temp will do all tedius chores!
9. Power heads will Include Tunze and a New Voyager 2 Controllable pump.
10. 250W Stealth heater
11. 5.5 gal ATO tank with RKL float switch control
12. 40 gal breeder tank as sump with center fuge, Skimmer to the right and return to the Left. Simple but Effective. Fuge baffels have been blacked out to contain extra unwanted light. and also will have a 4" filter sock to run when wanted. I have added a manifold to also power two reactors, Carbon or gfo when needed.
13. Last but not least the tank 36L x 24D x 15H = 59 gal Rimless (No starfire) Scratches too easy and the cost IMO is too high. Tank has one left side corner overflow with Hofer Gurgle buster and Locline for return duties. Black back and overflow In the rear. There will be no rock touching any glass or leaning on any part of the tank except the bottom. Marco rock was special ordered by size for this reason.
I'm sure I have forgotten something but I will update as needed and keep the pictures coming as i go along. Thanks for looking and I hope you enjoy It as much as I do building It.

No that wall won't even be there after we do the remodeling In the house, It will be part of a large doorway to the new addition that Is now the garage. I put a 10' x 16' barn In the backyard to replace the garage and all that will be living space when done. For now the new tank will be In a bedroom. But may have a future In a new place after the remodel Is done.
The 185 gal Is still here until the weather Improves and the owners house Is ready for the tank. He can take his time as he Is now picking up the cost of running the tank. And all my Coral from the Solana has no home yet and Is back In the 185 for now! Until I get this one cycled.
Missed you On Sunday, Andy and Leah came by and you could have Carpooled. Oh well maybe next time.

D Day

D Day

Going great. Nice plumbing job. I hope the stand is not too long in the making.

Me too, Thanks, I started to put my t5's together and test fire the bulbs and realized they sent me the wrong end caps. The Retro kit that comes AIO works fine and I was surprised how bright the 39W bulbs are! I may mount my Lumatek ballast In the closet and do some pre wiring so I can make It all nice and neat while I have extra time.
I hope by the weekend I will have a stand, Fingers crossed X we shall see!:hmm1:

This Is the wall where the tank will go, Don't look like much an empty wall but moving furniture, Hanging TV's, Installing GFI's to make way for the tank actually took all day.
So I am making progress, Plus my Skimmer pump and Marco rock will both be here tomorrow.

Nice progress Bill...I can't wait to see it up and running....I really like those dimensions was contemplating something similar in size myself....I think mine will end up being 48x24x?....I missed it...Who is making your tank?

Well battin' 500 so far....the marco rock has arrived and is awesome!!! Still waiting on the skimmer pump, but the tank is up on a temporary stand and I'm making water as fast as I can.......should be circulating later tonight.

Well someone was busy today. Got alote done. Good job bill when your finish with yours you can come and do mine. Lol

Now that not the stand that you was waiting for. Hope not. Look like a Rhett build.J/K

Just like to give Rhett a hardtime.

Funny you say that Zef thats exactly what it is. Laugh Hey Im a big boy I can take it Zef. (Reminder cut Zef's tires next chance you get) Hmmmm Did I think that outloud ? lol

11:00PM Or how to waste 1/2 a day on a leaky Bulkhead, Ran too many test runs to remember but put It together on a stand (Almost) And here come the leaks. Turns out to be a off size nut that the dang thing slipped when you tightened It down, Tighter meant more leaking as It just popped loose every time you tried to lock It down. Finally Got It off and replaced It with a 30year old one I had forever and Bam! No Leaks. It's pretty cloudy right now as I added the Live Black Sand and stirred It In a little so In the Morning I'll get some Photos. It cleared enough for me to get a decent start to my Aquascaping and man Is that rock easy to work with, Not like the usual stuff that falls down every place you put It. For the Price 2.00 a lb this rock Rocks.
Last but not least I got my new 55W skimmer pump Version 2 and It's starting to break In., Thanks Rhett and the other Guy I forget his name at the moment. Seems this will be a good skimmer But after running a Reeflo Pro and seeing this Super Octo It's all relevant.
Well after 18 hrs today that It, I'm done for today.
The Tank Is running but needs fine tune tomorrow, Too loud but We'll fix that! and get some better photos.
Thanks for looking
Bill

Sorry Mike I did

Sorry Mike I did

Looking Great Bill...can't wait for it to be finished...Maybe you missed my question but who made your tank?

The Tank was made by Ocea In Alabama, I picked It up from a friend and did some trim removal Wa La Rimless Low Profile!
This one will be my last so I'm trying to do It up right and have a easy to care for tank when I'm done. I'm tired of the huge tanks with the huge costs to run so this one has been designed different, Less cost, Less to maintain!
The most exspensive Item on this build Is the RKL at 288.00 and the Total so far Is around 1,500.00 and Im getting close to being done.
