LPS corals touching each other??

In all the years i have been keeping corals i have never let them grow into each other...do LPS corals kill each other like other corals do?

I just got a 16" elegance and its so big it bumps into my open brain sometimes! I dont see either coral bothered by this but it just started today so??

I wouldn't let that go on. Even euphyllias of different type can get snarky, especially torch, unless they grow together very slowly. And probably even then there's some chemical warfare going on.
Never had an 'open' brain, but a maze brain can get very snarky at night. 6" reach.

I agree. One of the reasons my tank isn't completely filled with corals is because most of mine are lps. I believe they need room, especially an elegance coral. Your elegance sounds awesome and if need be, I would move stuff away from it, even it that means moving some rock.

Yeah, I'd give those two plenty of space. An elegance will destroy an open brain. Some will tolerate touching for short periods, but it's really just a matter of time before someone gets hurt. The only two LPS genera I know are fine touching are Trachyphyllia and Cynarina lacrymalis.

I just had a bubble coral take out a plate coral. They have been next to each other for months and just two days ago the bubble kept it's feeders out all day. The next morning a good portion of the plate died.

If they are the exact same species it is fine. But an A. echinata will turn A. lords into mush overnight.
