LTA getting eaten

I just caught my blue hippo tearing and eating the base or foot of my lta. The lta is kinda pulling itself in a bit when it does this, is the lta doomed and dead basically?

I know a tear on the foot of an LTA usually (if not always) spells disaster. I wish you the best with it.

It didn't make it. I pulled it out yesterday and found a hole in it's foot, different from where the tang was after. I think I'm off nems again for a while.

BTAs (red or green) are an easier anemone to keep successfully. They attach to the liverock and will often serve as host to ocellaris (though they aren't natural host for ocellaris, so no sure bet on that).

I don't think Blue tangs normally pick on anemones. Sounds like it was doomed from the start. Many anemones come into the LFS either damaged or diseased. The trick is to find a healthy one. Hopefully you'll try nems again and find yourself a healthy one.

I didn't think so either. Once I really started watching though I found the hippo and my scopas both tearing into it. That was the point I figured it was a gonner and pulled it out and notice the hole.

I will get another nem eventually, just have to wait for the sting to subside. I may wait and order one from DD.
