what does an lta look like sucked in? i've seen bubbles do it but wondering about the lta. Its sucked in to about the sized of a golf ball the tentacles are green and stringy, my maroon doesn't care but i do. is this typical. i hope so. help

about 9 days, this is the first time he changed shapes
foot is exposed its pink and in the center of the bottom of foot is white.

Mine does it once in a blue moon, so it isn't all that uncommon. But the fact that its foot is still exposed still isn't a good sign.

yeah but should i be able to see the white part of the foot or is the foot even white and its just injured? its white and stringy, but really really small strings

The foot shouldn't be white, should be reddish in color.

When they ball up, most of the time you won't be able to see the tentacles at all, maybe one or two that are completely deflated.

The white stingy things --- are they coming out of the foot?

yes they are, i'm pretty sure my anemone is dying, my maroon is stil hosting it but my coral beauty is nipping the bottom of it. alright every anemone ih've had has rotted away. i don't get it. water is at pristine quality. I hate them stupid things

If there are coming out of the foot, it is time to pull it.

Where are you getting your anemones from?

What are the current water params? Something is going on with your tank.

The lighting wouldn't cause them to die like that. If it was the lighting they would bleach out, slowly, which doesn't seem to be the case.

What are the water parameters, and what are you using for filtration?

i'm about to do my test, but,the only thing that fluctuates is my nitrates but tested them 2 days ago and were 0 I'm running carbon filter and remora skimm. w/ mj 1200 would the light make him weak so fish would pick on him?

alrightnitrates 0 ph8.2 nitrites0 ammonia .25(i'm assuming the .25 is from the anemone prob.) salinity is .o25. so....

now its official i'm done with these stupid anemone's i might be done w/ s/w al together, the only reason i did it was anemone's and clowns and after one sabae, one lta, 2 bubbles, and a carpet anemone and they all die. thats just retarded. All my coral's are thriving, my fish are thriving, anemone's just suck

It is hard to tell if the amnonia spiked because the anemone is dying, or was the cause of it. But, since it hasn't started to fall apart yet, I would lean towards the amnonia being the cause of its issues.

What I suggest, is stick with SW, but hold off on anemones for at least 3 months. As you've seen they aren't the easiest thing to keep. Just give you and your tank time to get more settled.

Don't you hate it when the lfs gets ya by the you know whats. I was going to go give them a peice of my mind btw i noticed the anemone puffing white smoke in the bag, i'm guessing internal infection because i know it wasn't trying to spawn, which would explain the foot in the shape it was in. So i'm convinced they have something in the system infecting their anemones. today they had a whole new shipment in but still had a giant rotting bubble and another lta that they've had for a while in poor shape. So i go to speak my mind right, and the only person in the s/w area is a new girl. I'm like ugh. She don't know me(everyone else does) and i'm not about to ruin her new dream job by spilling thoughts on her so i had to just take my 50% refund and walk. Sad part is if anyone else would have been there i was going to make them give me a deal on a big big pretty lta that they just got today, hoping it wasn't infected yet, but noone there to get the deal from. Thanx for the help todd. i apreciate it.
