so last night i got an anemone for my black perculas. I figured by this morning they would all be best friends. I dont think the clowns have even been in it yet. should i be worried that they arent going to become a happy family?
Sometimes it may take hours/days/weeks/months or it may never happen. It depends on the needs of the clownfish. They have a tendency also to use torches, frogspawn, hammers, duncans and other tentacle like corals as homes.
sorry yes the clowns are black ocellaris. they seem curious of the anenome just have yet to get in it. i was just wondering if there was a preference of clown fish between bubble tips and long tenticles?
there's an anemone FAQ (PDF format) stickied to the top of the Anemone/Clownfish forum. The FAQ lists naturally occurring fish/anemone symbionts. Treat black ocellaris as 'ocellaris'- they have the same preferences.
Ocellaris will often host in anything if you give them time.
