So I decided to try out a Lumen Brite Mini reflector. It has a Reeflux 12k 400w bulb. Overall impression: Ummm well looks like I might have to light acclimate all of my corals....again.

Just taken out of the package.

WOW..... thats quite a difference right there... Looks like I'm going to be selling my parabolic reflectors I bought to get something a little better... I didnt think it would make THAT much of a difference....

Do they make one for a 250 DE bulb, or will I need to go with the Lumenarcs ??

I am not sure if they make a DE version. I, too, was skeptical about how much of a difference the Lumenarcs/Lumen Brites actually made. Even with my ****ty camera and photography skills the lighting change in the tank is quite noticeable. In particular look at the sandbed.

I thought the largest difference was right under the eggcrate frag rack thing you had in there... WOW.

Do they have a website so I can look into DE reflectors ??

From the left edge of the anemone all the way to the green brain on the right. In the parabolic picture the gorgonian almost looks purple. In the Lumen Bright it is quite obvious that it is red. Obviously I have a slight tilt in the light to have more on the left than the right. It is only temporarily mounted.

This puts a severe damper on mounting my frags tomorrow.

EDIT: Stupid me! I keep spelling bright wrong. I swore when I searched the internet for it, it came up as brite. I need to lay off the drugs.

Doug, contact Mark at Reefdepot. They carry the Coralvue line-up and he would be able to give you a definitive answer on whether they are available as a DE.

Septembers tank of the month swapped his luminarc reflectors out for the lumin bright reflectors. He seems to like them. Everyone that has them says it does reflect more light into the tank.

I tested one of these reflectors v a spider reflector and the par output was as high as 3x with the same bulb and ballast.

Damn, I may have to ditch the DE bulbs I was planning on and run 250 SE's with these reflectors...

Probably a wise choice, Doug. The picture does it no justice. My camera works great for your standard everyday picture taking but it is just not a great tank camera.
