Luminarc III Vs. Spider

Can anyone atest to how much better the luminarc III's are vs. a reregualr spider reflector? I would like to buy a set but I'm wondering if it's worth the $$.

I switched from spider to the luminarc. Just one word Wow! it's worth every penny of it. Please check out my red house to get a better idea.

Loc, the reflector you are using is not Lumanarc III. It is lumenmax from SLS.

Reefer, i am using Lumenmax as well, i really like it. So much better than spider reflector.

Sometime back I switched to a lumenarc 3 from a spider. I used the same bulbs from the spider at the same height. Lets just say I fried most of my sps. Nothing changed other than the reflector. So the answer is yes, the lumenarc 3 are way better at light dispersion.

I know it is the same but i just want Loc to get the right name for his reflector.

I know , I just wanted the reader to know that there were other comparabe reflectors out there since I like SLS better than PGS as a company supporting the hobby.

I like SLS better due to the craftmanship. Very well built reflector. Greg, have you seen the smaller version lumenmax 3? Look really nice

Same one with the fan on it. I actually have 3 of them now, one was originally bought from "Diamond" who was later taken over by PGS. Both are pretty much the same, but the newest ones are a little different in the bulb mounting. No big deal though.

Glad the cap turned out red for you. Is it getting thick or has it started to whirl (Which I like) yet?

Yeah I have seen them. I have been running 4 of them since they became available a couple of months ago.

I have SE bulbs, so I'd have to go w/ regular Lumenmax?

Correct. You could go with the Lumenmax II instead of the original Lumenmax since your tank is only 24" front to back. If your tank was 30 - 48" I would say go with the original Lumenmax
