Luminarcs -- Excellent!

Just so you know. I don't just assume you need 400 when I see those tank dimentions. I have a 96*48*15, I ran two 250's and two 400's. I'm currently upgrading to four 400's. When you get that far off the water to get spread, you loose alot of intensity. I have pics in my gallery if you want to see. The 20k pics are the 250's only.

I need at least 3x 400w for my tank... Maybe if I was looking to setup an SPS dominate tank then maybe, but I am only going to have a few SPS and clams... I guess I will just have to setup the 4x 250w along with the T5's and sees what I get... Depending on what I do with my rock work I may swap out one or two 250s for 400s if I feel that is needed... Also depending on what it looks like with the 4x 250w and 8x T5ââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s I may even add more T5ââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s as those will be running the full time and the MH will only come on at peak for like 5 to 6 hrs or soââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¦

mwood, I like how you have your tank ;) Got a little algae growing on the back wall, hehe :p

Great thread, I just bought 3 LA III minis for my L60xW20xH18 I think I am goig to try and build something like what dougchambers posted. I think I can get away with 250W E balasts for such a shallow tank.

There was a link posted earlier in this thread that shows Sanjay's testing of the mini.

I looked and could not find the link. All I found was information and graphs for the LA III. Anybody have a link to the LA mini's?

I had previously looked also and had not seen any testing results for the mini.

I am almost inclined to wait for the LAIII DE to be finished by PGS, and finally tested by Sanjay, before I sink my money into new reflectors.

I know I will have to use a shoe-horn to get the full sized ones over my 180. Just wondering how much users of the mini have to give up. And whether it is worth the trouble given the price is the same.

Luminarc 3 users~ please tell me if spending more on Luminarc is worth it compared to buying PFO Parallel reflector 24". it costs $55 including mogul but Luminarc is $130.

according to Joshi's article, Luminarcs was slightly better than PFO.
http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/mar2003/feature.htm

by the way, im looking into 72Lx 36w x 24T(or 28) tank.

With a 36"W tank you will want to get the LM3.
My tank is 36"W and the coverage is perfect.

In a 3x3 area the PFO Parallel didn't do that much worse than the Lumenarc.

Where can you get the Parallel for $55?

want2reef,

everyone has PFO Parallel 24" for ~$32 plus mogul is $23.
now thats much cheaper than LM3.

so for 3' width, would u say im good with PFO?

Sanjay,

The small Diomond light that you tested in the link above.

Is that reflector the same as the Lumenarc mini?
