Mike Obrian's tank is awesome! I like the idea of tiles myself. I also like the raw rough lumber look.
best advice i can give is Run it by the Wife! :)

Well we took down all the drop ceiling and cleaned out all the stuff in that corner. It was put in the "tank jail" room as that room will not be done until the 200gal is up and running and the 58gal is out of that room. A shuffle of rooms so to speak

Just a little photo of the room cleaned out

Are you going to skip the drop ceiling and just sheetrock it? That will give you more headroom and open up the area nicely.

I would sheet rock with some resesed bucket lights. That is a yes on the furniture and a no on the controller. heheheh for now at least.. Does your dog like nori? Mine loves it..

We are sheet rocking it to give it more of a finished look compared to drop ceiling plus we get 2-3more inches of room. There are no water pipes in there so no worry about needing access for anything

My main is a 100amp but I can't remember how many slots....not enough :D

Eric - Not sure if she likes nori I've never given any to her. I should try a little bit

sub panel can be added even with 100amp main panel, you are not going to have over 100amp on at one time. my .02

Yeah that is why we are adding a sub panel. I won't be using all 100amps at one time. The sub panel will allow me to distribute out some power better and get my my two 15amp outlets :D I'd like to do three 15amp outlets. 1 for my lights, 1 for my pumps (CL and return) and one for my misc stuff (skimmer, heaters, aqua controller, fans, etc).

Probably no work on the tank or the tank room tonight. Just need to kick back and relax I think :(

maxxII - I was wondering where you have been? Eating too many donuts at the coffee shop huh :D Yeah it has been a trip. Riping out every wall seem pointless but it will lay the basement out better and best part is that I will get my tank in there! My big tank! Funny thing is the wife said it was small for a reef compared to what most people run.

Yeah what is up w/ the server? Seems like I can post on anyone else's thread but mine it doesn't like.

I take the hit on the coffee...w/ my screwed up hours, I need the kickstart to get going in the begining of the shift. However, I dont eat donuts. Much less in uniform. Made a solemn promise to a buddy of mine. Havent had a donut in 4 years. Sucks too, cause I liked 'em...

Been busy w/ work lately, sorry I havent been able to stay on the board much lately and keep up w/ your updates....looks like you're really moving along though...keep up the good work man.

As far as tank electrical goes...

figure out some sort of alarm or back up system. Griss, (Here on RC) had a 450 gallon tank built for him and something tripped his breaker while he was home. He didnt know about it, and 8 hours later, his tank was nuked from lack of 02....

have a plan for that sort of thing.....

Nick

Maxx - Any updates on your tank? Glad all is well w/ you. Hope you get some time to hang around. I LOVE donuts too but don't eat them very often as they are junk :D but coffee is like gasoline for this engine

I just stumbled across this gizmo and thought some of you might find it of value.

Working on the basement this evening. Tore all the sheet rock off those outside walls and the 1x3 furring strips. Good thing is that there are no real cracks (a few hairline) and no real moisture. Only some in one corner that is coming from the wall above so when I reside I'll need to keep that noted but it is only some condensation like.

We are filling all the masonry nail holes and then we are sealing all the walls w/ a basement block sealer. Figure while we had it all apart we might as well and if we sell it we can say that we sealed all the walls. Hope to have two coats on the basement tonight so that I can frame all day tomorrow and insulate.

Off to get some paint on the walls.

So we didn't get any paint on the walls tonight :( Wife and I were tired and got all the nail holes filled and prepped to go for tomorrow AM.

This is during tear out

It'll be worth it once it's done.

Completely worth the 94 bucks in basement paint :D I won't use it all on this part.

I'm glad that we tore everything down instead of building over crap. Do it right the first time.
