Lunchbucket's 48"x48"x20" Reef

Are your concerns cosmetic? I don't see why you can just hae a bracket coming form your stand to support the pipe. You could wel something up out of angle iron or aluminum and paint it. I know it has too look sweet like the rest of your system. You can get some thin aluminum from home depot cut a couple pieces and bolt them together than you can velcro, ziptie or use the actual pvc support brace to connect to your custom made DIY support brackets. Either way in the end I am sure you will make it sweet and functional. I am just get ansy ..Can't wait to see your tank up and going.

You did a great job DUDE....

erics3000 - Thanks for the compliments man!

It isn't the cosmetic that I'm worried about it is how to make it functional. With so many different pipes at so many different heights I'm just trying to plan the best way to do this.

Still not sure how to do it well

Nice set up sitting here. Might tear it down before spring. My wife gave me the spring deadline to either start it up or sell it. With the economy I'm not sure I want to start it up....just seems greedy to have such a big tank that I will be dumping money for livestock into when I have my 24gal aquapod set up and love it and it looks great. I could pay off some house remodel bills or save some $$...just a struggle in my head right now. Also, almost seems to big for me....call me crazy.

Yeah, it won't be around much longer. Save yourself a copy, Eric. ;) EDIT: Never mind.

The fish room is done. The tank is in place. The plumbing is done. I suggest you fire it up, and put in the livestock you have, and don't spend on anything new. Get frags from friends, and let it mature on its own.

You've done a lot of work and it seems like you should give it a go. Your job surely isn't at risk considering how many overweight people are in America.

melev- Yeah I'm sure it won't be around for long ;)

Yeah, yeah, yeah...not worried about the job. Just not sure if I feel like I'm doing what I should be. Seems that I'm just greedy and why not just have my 24gal aquapod. Just simplifying my life...had some change of hearts lately..

It's up to you and your wife. I'm sure we can get a moderator to delete this thread like it never happened. :D

Gee thanks for wanting to wipe off my legacy for good :D

We will see. Just a lot of soul searching lately. Heck no harm in letting it sit for a while till I decide

Lunch I think the same thing some time. I haven't even really started buying any coral yet too. This is a very difficult hobby. My 1st impulse is to completely agree with marc. But if you are going to keep a tank how much extra in electric will this one really be? maybe you can reduce the electric consumption and ease the burden. but either way i completely understand. Sometimes I do feel greedy with the tank too. When I feal like that I just give it a break and try to maintain and not buy any livestock or equipment. It is really crazy if you add everything up. The for say 10 years. WOW that is real scary to think.

I look at it like I just cut back in certain areas.

Dude really cut back on all your power bars and creatin and protien shakes and that will pay for the tank alone.. hahahahahahha

Just kiddin..

erics3000 - Glad I'm not the only one that thinks like this :D It won't be that much more in electric...that isn't what worries me. It's the fish, corals, shrimp, salt, filters for RO, etc. Everything! Just seems like there will be endless stuff that will cost more than I want to pay :D I've just been soul searching on how to simply my life and save some $$

I hear you on not buying anything more...did that for quite sometime in my 58gal but really I'll need to pack that baby with fish man!

I don't want to think about the $$ since 2001. I'd quit today if I knew the real price!

LOL

Well I'm already thinking I want to do a 2x2 tank with one halide and 3 or more Tunzes. Will take up less room and less electricity than that big tank would have. Also would fit my house better.

Nice progress and build to not have it happen. Oh well better than when filled. Got my downstairs living room done in the process and will finish the rest of it.

Man that is tough!

What did you do with those hoods I sent you?

I'am in disbelief to see all that hard work down the drain!
This is a CRACK hobby - you lose track and don't know when to stop. This is the reason I haven't converted my measly 125 to salt. I decided to stick with my small 65, it's less expense in this uncertain economy. Between salt and ro/di that's enough.

My heart felt condolences to you.
I kept track of this built from day one.

Who bought the tank?
:(

That's a sad sight but you gota do what you gota do, ... uhg that hurts to see though!

probably a good choice. besides, it's the build that's half the fun! :D

I fully understand but was looking forward to seeing this thing up and running. I have friends that are scaling back or taking a break too. It is costly and it does soak up a lot of personal time, not necessarily the best thing for a young family.

I wish you many happy reefer hours with the AquaPod!

It was going to my home! but i just like lunch decided that its too much in this tuff ecomomic time... But I will let lunch tell you where it went but IMO went to a great home and someone who will make it a dream tank right lunch??!!
