Wow, that's a lot of unions, dubv's. Any reason you went with all that? I understand about the disassemble, but that looks like a bit of overkill.
Well I'm usually overkill if you guys have seen me around before

I just want everything easy to fix if anything goes wrong (which it usually doesn't). Also for me the unions and DUBV's allowed me to not have the pipe perfect as I can spin the unions around the pipe instead of trying to screw the pipes in to the same angle or dept everytime. That is what made the most sense to me.
I have 7 unions. One on each hole in the back of the tank and one on pump inlet. 8 DUBS. 1 on inlet of pump, 1 on outlet of pump before OM unit, 1 on each port of OM unit (4), and one on each "leg" of the CL inlet pipe.

That's a lot of pipe; nice job! I can't wait to see the rock layout with that cube. Is it going to be an open layout with sand or BB?
I'am thinking two separate reef mounds with ledges and a middle valley with open space all around. When I get my next tank it will be a 48x48x20 cube.
I've been keeping track of this build since day 1.
Thanks! I think the pipe turned out ok. No screw ups so that is nice.
I need to get the bottom figured out. Might lay 1/4" white acrylic in there for a bottom and then I could pile up some rocks to see what I have. Some rocks are cooking right now so Don't want to take those out until I do the aquascape for good.
You sure you want a 48x48x20? I'd do a 48x48x24" if I wouldn't have gotten an amazing deal on this one!
Thanks for the support and tracking too.

Great job Lunch I thought that you would have it done by now since your 58 gal tank is DOA. Come on man, your fishies and coral dont deserve a rubber maid.
Question for ya thou.
Why a big pump for a return. why not use something like a Mag 12 to run by the time you have the head loss done you would have a good flow nice and slow to allow for better skimming going through the sump area. just a thought thou not trying to jump over your thread.
Now get going man. GETTER DONE :smokin:
Great make me feel worse than I already do

Been working a lot to tell u the truth. Also have a few bubbles on the bottom seam that I don't like the looks of and am trying to find out what to do about them before I try filling it up. Pretty much my excuse is work but I have been working on the tank as much as I can.
Iwaki 55rlt for a return pump doesn't seem that big IMO. I figured I'm feeding the skimmer w/ some of it and some to the fuge and some to the rest of the sump. Plus it is external and I already own it so it was the best choice. This is what I just figured
Total losses are 10.11 feet of head pressure, or 4.37 PSI. with a flow rate of 948 GPH.
Not crazy flow out of the return pump IMO but I could be wrong?? I'm gonna use about 450-500gph through the skimmer so that is 1/2 of the pump.
Glass Reef - Thanks
